WP:BLP1E, WP:NOTNEWS. She is known for being one of a few people who were expelled from the Turkish army after a recent controversy. Badbluebus (talk) 04:55, 9 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep: It is true that Ebru Eroğlu was expelled from the military due to a recent controversy. However, the focus is on her because she is the most significant figure among those involved in the action mentioned in the article. This type of incident has occurred for the first time in the history of the Republic of Turkey, impacting both the military and the public. While it has been covered almost daily by the entire Turkish media, it has also gained attention in European and American press. Additionally, she is the first female soldier to graduate as the top student from the Turkish Military Academy. Therefore, I believe it is appropriate for the article to remain. Highly confusing. It's not a disambiguation page (there's already Boy Scout (disambiguation), with a 10-year old discussion about merging the two, Talk:Boy_Scouts#Merge_of_Boy_Scouts_(disambiguation)). It seems a set-index article, as it's just a list. Boy scouts redirects here but Boy scout doesn't. fgnievinski (talk) 01:48, 2 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep Boy Scouts and Boy Scout are two related but distinct concepts. Boy Scouts refers to the umbrella of organizations within Scouting whereas Boy Scout refers to the individual member, usually called a Scout. To prevent confusing crossovers, anything referring to or containing "Boy Scout" (singular) should remain on Boy Scout (disambiguation) whereas anything referring to "Boy Scouts" (e.g. organizations related to the movement) should be on Boy Scouts. The pages should have a hatnote referencing the other DAB page. I think merging the two would make things more confusing. Qwaiiplayer (talk) 19:38, 9 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge. I'd prefer a merge with Boy Scout (disambiguation) since the terms are not always carefully distinguished and Wikipedia rarely has seperate pages for the singular and plural of a term. But the preference is not strong and certainly deletion is unhelpful. The content should be preserved and the title a Blue link whatever merges or refactorings occur. Per WP:NLIST.

Some of the items (e.g. Genetic Algorithm) indeed have notability.

Otherwise, notability the list is not shown. Are there any mentions of metaheuristic algorithms as a group other than a reason to introduce another one, or to take action on unchecked creation of such algorithms?

As metaheuristic algorithms still continue to be introduced at a pace of (conservatively) dozens per year, this list is arbitrary in nature, which is another argument for not having it.

For more context, there is an attempt to have such a listing elsewhere, also lagging behind the current state.

Another possible course of action is to clean the list up (to those algorithms with a Wiki page) and merge into the main article.

Union leader, gubernatorial candidate, and former mayor of a town with a population of ~40k. • Keep, as the author of the more-than-a-stub-article with multiple reliable references and seeking completion of profiles in Wikipedia of all declared candidates in the 2025 NJ gubernatorial election. In the most recent Emerson College poll, he's polling in second behind Mikie Sherrill and tied with Ras Baraka, and ahead of Josh Gottheimer and Stephen Sweeney (and far ahead of Steve Fulop, another mayor in the gov's race). In addition to all of that, he is indeed a union leader of what is, in New Jersey, one of the most influential unions in the state. Some may find it interesting that there actually seems to be an effort to not have a coherent set of data for Spiller; part of the reason I created the article was I couldn't find a clearly defined biography for him. Thus, in the best manner of Wikipedia, I set forth to assemble one for others who may be wondering about the only candidate for which there was not only no Wikipedia article...but not a lot of clear through-line on his life, work and what put him in the #2 spot (the answer actually seems to be..."the NJEA"). List of boats in The Adventures of Tintin (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL)

So, there's some interesting stuff here in the form of well written and referenced text on "The maritime world in The Adventures of Tintin", but this is wrapped in fancrufty and poorly referenced list that fails WP:NLIST (and while the list appears to have plenty of footnotes, many are just unreferenced notes or commentary). As a list, I think his has no reason to exist, but the content could probably be merged somewhere, or maybe split (or perhaps we could just delete the list part of this article and rename it?). It's a weird case, I've very rarely seen some good content bundled with bad one in such a way... If this is somehow kept, obviously, this is not a list of boats, but ships (or ships and boats?). Keep The book citation provided by Mushy Yank, as well as other secondary sources that are already in the article, indicate that the ships have been discussed as a group, therefore alleviating the main concern of the nominator and the other delete voters. Simply citing the policy without explaining why it violates NLIST like some have done here is a very poor deletion rationale. Obviously, the article needs to be renamed to List of ships in The Adventures of Tintin, but all of the issues in the article can be resolved through editing and are not indicative of a fundamental flaw that warrants full deletion. Billclinton1996 (talk) 07:31, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Merge some of the content on Secret of the Unicorn and Red Sea Sharks to their respective articles. I was somewhat hesitant, but a deeper look at the sources reveals that there is quite literally only one piece of SIGCOV, that being the book Yank mentioned above. Much of the dev info is about individual ships COATRACKED together, and not as the discussion of boats as a whole. Some of this info is worthwhile for preservation at individual subjects, but one SIGCOV piece and a lot of COATRACKING just isn't enough to base an entire article on. • Comment I am not finding much coverage online. I wonder if there might have been coverage in heavy metal magazines in the 2000s, but that would need someone with access to that to check. All I can find are some sources that confirm they had distribution in Europe, Japan and North America (in a distribution list at the end of this article [8]; this article is specifically about distribution in Japan [9]). That latter article also has a bit more info - that the label had its own metal broadband TV show called Detonator TV - but whether it is either independent or reliable as a source, I am not sure. This website has an announcement of co-founder Eric Cook's death [10]. Following an edit summary in the article's history, I searched thegazette.co.uk and found that it appointed liquidators in September 2006 [11], [12], and the final meeting of creditors was held in 2011 [13]. If this article is kept, that information can be added. RebeccaGreen (talk) 13:06, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The owner-operator, Dixon Ip, lovingly runs this eco-friendly coffee haven for local workers and residents. He prefers the siphon method for bringing out the different flavours of the bean; hence five out of the seven roasts on the menu are of single origin. Strangely for a café, we smelt no coffee aroma – the physics behind siphoning ensures everything from the bean is contained within the drink. By concentrating exclusively on the perfect cup of brewed coffee, Xen has succeeded in giving customers exactly that. Shop K12, Manly Plaza, 997 King’s Rd, Quarry Bay, 2960 1388; www.xencoffee.com. Manager’s special: Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia (organic and fair-trade) is a medium roast with a long-lasting taste and a sweet and floral aroma with hints of muscatel. $26."

  • Comment I find it hard to assess notability of recent Indian topics, per WP:NEWSORGINDIA. As far as this book is concerned, I would think it possible that the original text by Achyutananda Dasa could be notable, or at least worth including information about it in the article about him (though I note that article says that he "wrote numerous books, many of which could be loosely translated as the Book of Prophecies"). Trying to assess the refs in this article: (1) is a video, so inaccessible to anyone who does not know Hindi; (2) is unreliable (at the end is "Disclaimer. The above information is based on various sources. Webdunia does not officially confirm it." It does not mention the 2023 book, just the text by Achyutananda Dasa. (3) does not mention the 2023 book either. (4) does say it's a review of Bhavishya Malika Puran translated into Hindi language by Pandit Shri Kashinath Mishra in 2023, but just repeats the same summary of the predictions as other refs do. (5) does not mention the 2023 book either. (10) in English is by someone who says "I am enthusiastic blogger & SEO expert." Probably not reliable, but does end the review by saying "Bhavishya Malika’s Authenticity: Some people are not sure if the Bhavishya Malika is genuine. We don’t really know where it came from or who wrote it, and some experts think it might be a more recent creation. Different Interpretations: The things written in the Bhavishya Malika can be understood in different ways. So, people might read the same text and come up with different predictions. Accuracy of Predictions: There’s no scientific proof that the predictions in the Bhavishya Malika are correct. It’s impossible to predict the future with complete certainty." This review also has a summary of positive and negative predictions in the book. If this article is kept, it should include information about the book's reception and critiques of it, not just repeat its predictions. RebeccaGreen (talk) 10:16, 9 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Difference defined The book supports unreliable sources. In my opinion, it is surely a religious pseudo-scientific book written by Achyutananda Dasa and it is wrongly translated by Mr. Kashinath Mishra. Even though I am from Indian state Odisha and worship Sri Achyutananda ji, I will call it a pseudo-scientific book. The Srimad Bhavishya Malika and it wrongly translated version Bhavisya Malika Purana should be differentiated.  Regards,Ved Sharma (talk) (contribs) 12:52, 10 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Now getting to the actual coverage, above article from the Springfield News-Leader can't be dismissed outright because it's a "local paper" -- that still qualifies as "independent" per the WP:GNG definition, "Independent of the subject" excludes works produced by the article's subject or someone affiliated with it. For example, advertising, press releases, autobiographies, and the subject's website are not considered independent.
I've found several other high quality GNG-contributing sources, for example:
The next step is to improve the article using these sources, which I think I can take on in the coming days. But the case for deletion isn't backed up by P&G with the newly found sources. --Habst (talk) 14:10, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Obviously it's important to be very cautious when nominating project page shortcuts at RfD, but this one seems worthy of discussion. It's only been used 15 times, and of those instances, it seems that most did not intend to link to WikiProject Vermont. Its original destination in 2007 was Vandal target, and I see that it has also been mistaken as a shortcut for WP:Verifiability, not truth. Some of the intended targets cannot be readily determined, but they are clearly not the wikiproject. I think generally speaking, shortcuts to essays and guidelines are of more utility than wikiproject shortcuts. — Anonymous 15:35, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) for development

[edit]

Redirect is completely, 100% implausible for multiple reasons. You would have to 1) get the capitalization wrong (it isn't a proper noun), 2) not use the hyphen between 'Open' and 'Source', 3) have a parenthesized '(FOSS)' ???, and 4) tack on 'for development' for some godforsaken reason. This additionally redirects to 'Free software' instead of 'Free and open-source software', although that isn't nearly the main issue. Lastly, neither 'Free software' nor 'Free and open-source software' have any sort of section even remotely correlating to this redirect. TheTechnician27 (Talk page) 14:22, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I support removal of this redirect; it serves no purpose that I can see and seems to have been created (19 years ago) only as a means to replace a non-article instead of deleting it. --Qcomp (talk) 14:42, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Delete popular discussion of a constitutional crisis is not limited solely to DOGE or to its actions.

Gaza massacre

[edit]

These are obviously not agreeing with each other, and I believe they are both in need of retargeting to Casualties of Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip. That is the most logical article for where all the killings over the long history of the Gaza conflict are encapsulated. List of massacres in the Palestinian territories is not specific to Gaza and Gaza war is just a holdout from when all of this referred only to Gaza War (2008–2009), which is obviously only one of the possible meanings. Having it pointing to the current war, while plausible, might be falling afoul of WP:RECENTISM. Havradim leaf a message 08:14, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not mentioned in target, this is used twice on the internet and neither of them refer to this song, and no is going to search for this song like this. Rusalkii (talk) 06:56, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Friends lesbian kiss episode

[edit]

Are descriptive episode names like this helpful? I'm genuinely asking. Also, it seems to have been wrongly tagged as being from a merge. — Anonymous 02:03, 9 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Weak keep I don't doubt someone would see smth like "my favourite episode of friends was the lesbian kiss episode" on socmed and look up something like "Friends lesbain kiss episode" User:Someone-123-321 (I contribute, Talk page so SineBot will shut up) 09:48, 9 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, implausible search term, no evidence that this is a name. Let the search results do its thing imo. We don't redirect any "kiss episodes" of any television series, to the episode in question, on Wikipedia of all things, where every redirect requires perennial maintenance. Unhelpful redirect, let's not give the impression that these types of redirects are encouraged or acceptable. Utopes (talk / cont) 02:21, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@user:Yirba did you use this redirect in Wikidata? Because it might be deleted. Anthony2106 (talk) 05:16, 15 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Keep per {{R from camelcase}}. I am bad at usernames (talk) 03:13, 9 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Delete This isn't a plausible search term, and if it was the search results would help a user find the right page. {{R from camelcase}} is for legacy page names.
I note that the creator of this redirect also created Ddox as a redirect, suggesting a deficient understanding (at best) of the purpose of redirects. Oblivy (talk) 03:22, 9 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Oblivy, on that note, having looked through their contributions, I see that they have made many other confusing, often downright bizarre, redirects. Looking at Wikipedia:‑( makes me seriously question their level of competence. — Anonymous 03:39, 9 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Keep per consarn - wikipedia's logo has the last letter larger than the rest, it's not implausible. WikipediA exists as a {{R from stylization}}. BugGhost 🦗👻 09:48, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Dhruva Natchathiram

[edit]

Primary topic by far appears to be Dhruva Natchathiram (unreleased film). This alternative name isn't mentioned in the target. Sending this to RfD rather than redirecting myself to get further opinions, ideally from people who are familiar with Sanskrit and/or this subject area. Rusalkii (talk) 02:16, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I think it was moved because "Dhruva Natchathiram" is another name for pole star. Bssasidhar, as the one who moved the article, you are requested to comment. Gotitbro, you are welcome as well. Kailash29792 (talk) 04:01, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The Killer is Calling

[edit]

Not mentioned in target. It's a movie, not a TV show, so it can't go to List of programs broadcast by Lifetime, and the movies don't have a page. Rusalkii (talk) 02:00, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. target article contains no information on the subject. Pyxis Solitary (yak). Ol' homo. ⚢ 17:49, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Grieving process

[edit]

The five stages of grief aren't a widely accepted standard. I think retargeting to Grief is the better target. Interstellarity (talk) 01:10, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Same topic as Turned P. Both articles started as translations from w:fr:P culbuté, indepently by two different users, this one a year earlier. Paradoctor (talk) 11:26, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The user's only contribution, last edited 2017, delete per WP:STALEDRAFT #6. Blanking per #3 would require "some potential". This production has had less than 300 views over the past decade, no hope of ever becoming notable. Paradoctor (talk) 10:41, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
