Thorington Caldwell "Thor" Putnam was an American layout artist for several Disney animated films released between 1937 and 1955, as well as at least six episodes of Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color.
After graduating from Stanford University in 1932, Putnam studied art at the Chouinard Art Institute before beginning his career with Walt Disney Studios as a layout artist. He worked as the art director for Pinocchio and the "Night on Bald Mountain/Ave Maria" segment of Fantasia before joining the Navy in 1942. While in the service, he supervised the production of 37 Navy training films.
After his discharge in 1946, he returned to Walt Disney Studios and work on features, like Melody Time, Cinderella, Peter Pan, and Lady and the Tramp.
Putnam died on January 26, 2001 at the age of 89.
