Marcello is a character initially planned to appear in the cancelled sequel to The Aristocats.
Bio[]
Based on known production material, Marcello would have served as a love interest for Marie, who would have been the central character of the sequel. Based on known animatics, he would have been a cat who worked on the cruise ship on which the family would be spending the holiday season, presumably as a mouser.
He dines with the animals, and Marie begins flirting with him. However, Thomas O' Malley treats him with great suspicion.
It would then be revealed later in the film that the captain of the ship is a jewel thief, using Marcello as his means of stealing the items. This revelation leads Marie to be heartbroken. After saving Marie from some rough street cats, Marcello reveals that the captain intends to turn Marie's family into his scapegoats. While Marie insists they need to go back and expose the captain, Marcello is reluctant to, fearing what the Captain may do to him. Marie calls him out for his selfishness, stating O'Malley was right about him.
During the climax of the film, just when the captain has Marie cornered on a crow's nest, Marcello returns and uses his claws to cut the rope the captain is using to keep balance, leading him to fall into a pile of life rings before being apprehended by the authorities.
He would, presumably, have been taken in by the Bonfamilles in the epilogue.
A skill that Marcello has would be his extra sharp claws, which he is shown using to chase off the cats harassing Marie, as well as when he helps apprehend the captain.
