The Wolff Globe is an Altered Item recovered by the Federal Bureau of Control during a raid on April 12, 2010 and now contained in the Oldest House's Panopticon.

Containment procedure[]

No unique procedures required. However, contact should be limited, as some report feeling disoriented after touching it.

Description/Altered effect[]

Item is handmade, set in dark wood. The item itself is lacquered, hand-painted, spins freely on all axes. While the continents and oceans are recognizably those of Earth, careful examination has revealed numerous [REDACTED] and other geographic additions that do not exist on our planet. One of these islands has a city marked on it, named "Tan Relio". There are no signatures left by its maker.

Physical contact renders subjects dizzy and disoriented, with some reporting a feeling of unfamiliarity with their surroundings. This effect seems to grow worse with prolonged contact, culminating in a sense of listlessness and depression. Suicide has been observed in [REDACTED] handlers.

Background[]

The item was found in the penthouse at [REDACTED], Toronto belonging to David Wolff, who was being investigated for illegally dealing in altered materials (see case 13-HQ-37). Bureau agents raided his penthouse and found numerous paranatural belongings, including [REDACTED] [REDACTED] and this item. Mr. Wolff was arrested.

Behind the scenes[]

  • Unused dialog lines for Jesse Faden indicate that the globe was supposed to be one of Langston's Runaways. The lines can be found amidst lines related to other Altered Items from that mission and resemble her usual comments when finding one of the escapees; in addition, that mission has two parts, with four Items to recover during the first part, but only three during the second part – the globe would have been the missing fourth one.
The Globe. That's one of the Altered Items Langston is looking for.
Holy shit!
Stop bouncing!
Ooph. I feel a little sick after that one.
One less Altered Item loose in the Bureau.[1]
