She majors in Political Science but is currently trying to get into law school.

Ana is closed off in the first couple of episodes, due to Zoey abandoning her drunk at a party. After Zoey sincerely apologizes, Ana is able to forgive her and they quickly become good friends. Ana makes multiple comments that implies incest goes on in her family. She’s initially not supportive of Zoey’s relationship with Cash Mooney because she thinks he’s not good for her but comes around to it when Zoey falls in love with him. Ana is inspired to create a space safe for conservative women after seeing the successful one Aaron Jackson made for black people. Aaron gets upset upon finding out she’s a Republican and conservative and this furthers her desire to create a safe space for people on the right. Ana creates chaos when she incites a physical riot against Aaron’s protest, leading to Hawkins being disbanded. When Zoey yells at her over it, she gets upset and emotional about how the group doesn’t take the time to listen to anything she has to say just because she shares different views. At the end of the season, Ana ironically tells Zoey to choose Aaron because she genuinely believes he’s the best guy for her.

Grown-ish Season 2[]

Ana moves into an apartment with Zoey and Nomi for her Sophomore year. She develops a romantic interest in Aaron. They begin a physical relationship, leading to a temporary loss of friendship with Zoey. After Zoey’s forgiveness, she realizes she wants to be with Aaron in an actual relationship but he’s not on the same page. It takes some time for her to walk away from the situation completely but she eventually does, for good. She's less close minded this season and tries a bunch of new things that she hasn't done before.

Grown-ish Season 3[]

Ana made herself very involved with Nomi’s pregnancy. She encouraged Nomi to keep the baby, due to her conservative pro life views. She made sure Nomi had the right foods to eat, found valuable information on the baby’s father and she threw her a baby shower. Ana is trying to get into a good law school and has to work under Javi (who she’s very much attracted to), in order to get an internship. She is hesitant to explore something with Javi since he’s her boss and because she hasn’t had the best of luck in love. Javi confesses his feelings and kisses Ana and it’s reciprocated, leading to them dating. She is really happy with Javi, but things take a turn when she finds out he’s celibate. Ana goes on a spiritual journey that she fails at multiple times, along with Javi. She starts to suspect Javi is cheating on her when she sees the name of someone he labeled as “Somebody” on his phone.

Grown-ish Season 4[]

Ana goes on vacation to Mexico with her friends, but instead of hanging out with them, she wants to use the time to focus on reconnecting with Javi. During the trip, more and more trust issues surface between Ana and Javi. Back home, Ana helps out Nomi when sees how much she’s struggling with balancing school and being a mom. When Javi starts to make insensitive comments regarding her friends and thanking cops after protests, they argue and it eventually leads to a break up. In a failed effort by Vivek to help get his friends laid, Ana ends up sleeping with him.

Relationships[]

Doug - We don’t know what Doug looks like or how long their relationship lasted. All we know is that they were cousins who dated, until he cheated on her with her Aunt... which according to Ana, was her first heartbreak.

Aaron Jackson - Ana has had a hate/love dynamic with Aaron since the very beginning of the show because of their extreme differences in politics. They are known for taking jabs and making fun of each other but they still care about one another as friends. They begin to flirt in Season 2, which in due time, leads to them having sex. Their hookups are put on pause once Zoey finds out and freaks, but continues once she gives her blessing. Ana begins to catch real feelings for Aaron but it’s not mutual, which hurts her deeply. Despite the relationship rejection, Ana still sleeps with Aaron for a while because she still wants to be with him in some way... until she realizes it’s not good for her and stops their physical relationship altogether.

Javi - Javier is a grad student and also Ana’s boss for her internship. Ana was immediately attracted to him and said he checked all her boxes, which her friends teased her about. Though, she made it clear that she wasn’t gonna get involved with him and sabotage her chances of getting into a great law school. Aaron gives Ana advice about not letting what happened between them, stop her from pursuing something that could be good for her. Javi and Ana share a moment when they are working together, which causes Ana to let him know that even though they have an obvious connection, she doesn’t want to complicate things since they work together. Javi tells her she's beautiful but has the wrong idea and that's not where his head's at. Ana immediately feels embarrassed and Javi leaves before returning and admitting that he lied about how he's feeling and kisses her, which she reciprocates. Ana invites Javi to Zoey's 21st birthday party where where they make out quite a bit, but Ana is very careful about not wanting anyone to know. Javi tells Ana he doesn't care if anyone sees and kisses her outside in front of people. Javi and Ana have been dating for a while and when they're about to have sex, Javi breaks the news that he's been celibate for six months. It's a lot to take in for Ana and a huge struggle for her but she still wants to be with him so she goes to his church with him to see where he gets his strength. Ana and Javi both break their promise to God by sleeping together. Javi and Ana continue to sleep together because the sex has been bad. They get it right after they both confess that they love each other. Things have been going well for them until Ana begins to suspect that Javi is cheating on her after his suspicious behavior and his secret messages with a person labeled "Somebody" in his phone.

When Ana finds messages from the “Somebody” she saw in Javi’s phone last season, she snoops through his texts and finds out he possibly has an STD. Javi assures her that he tested negative but she’s too upset that he didn’t tell her about any of it. Javi believes she’s overreacting and she hates that he never communicates honestly with her. Post pandemic, it’s revealed by Ana that her and Javi started going to couples counseling with their Pastor for their issues. Ana is ecstatic when Javi gets her a watch, as an anniversary gift with her initials engraved in the back. Unfortunately, she finds out her friend Vivek Shah is the one who picked the gift out for Javi to give to her. She is disappointed at the thought of Vivek knowing her better than her own boyfriend. She decides to get over it and be appreciative of his gesture of asking for help to get her something special. When Javi thanks cops for their service right in front of protesters, Ana tells him about his insensitivity. Javi defends his actions by mentioning that she’s vilifying all of them when some of their relatives are apart of the military. Ana continues to share her frustration with his blatant disregard for the people who are in direct conflict with the cops. Javi is exhausted with fighting with her all the time, so he breaks up with her.

Vivek Shah - Ana and Vivek have been good friends for a long time, due to them being in the same friend group. In season 4, their dynamic takes a turn. Vivek gives Ana’s boyfriend Javi a gift to give Ana and she loves it. When she finds out, the gift was Vivek’s idea, she is saddened by the fact that he knows her better than her boyfriend. After Ana and Javi breakup, Vivek tries to help her and Nomi get laid. When it doesn’t work out by the end of the night, Vivek and Ana end up sleeping together and Ana instructs him that they can never speak about it, ever.
