William "Bill" Kilquist was a 2014 Democratic candidate for District 115 of the Illinois House of Representatives.
Biography
Kilquist's professional experience includes working as the Jackson County Sheriff for six terms, as warden at Illinois Youth Center in Murphysboro and a trustee at John A. Logan College.[1]

Marijuana
- Excerpt: "Kilquist said he does not have an issue with medical marijuana use but opposes recreational use and said he needs more information on why legalization would be beneficial. Kilquist thinks law enforcement should focus on other drugs because their usage is increasing."
Small business/ local economy
- Excerpt: "The main issues Kilquist hears from locals, concerns jobs, pensions and taxes. He said the 115th District has a lot to offer and keeping local labor is important. Kilquist said the goal is to make sure southern Illinois businesses aren’t overburdened and make sure citizens aren’t overtaxed. He said job creation needs to happen because businesses want to invest in our community, not because government forces job creation. Giving businesses incentives to come into southern Illinois needs to be monitored, Kilquist said. He said if companies take incentives then leave, the district deserves those incentives back."

Elections
2014
Elections for the Illinois House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on March 18, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was December 2, 2013. William "Bill" Kilquist defeated Tony Mayville in the Democratic primary, while Terri Bryant defeated Robert "Bob" White in the Republican primary. Bryant then defeated Kilquist in the general election. Gary Shepherd (G) filed to run but was removed from the ballot following an objection.[2][3][4][5]
