Sharon Chung is a mother, county board member, dedicated teacher and musician, and lifelong Illinoisan. As a natural communicator, collaborator, and problem-solver, Sharon is committed to being a strong voice, advocating for the hard-working people of the newly-drawn 91st House District.

The daughter of Korean immigrants, Sharon was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs, and moved to Bloomington to attend college at Illinois Wesleyan University. She and her husband Jeremy were drawn back to the community as a place to start their family. Together with their daughters, Sophie (10) and Mia (7), Sharon and Jeremy have been proud to call Bloomington home since 2009.

Sharon was elected to the McLean County Board in 2018, representing the residents of District 7. She has served on the Land Use and Development, Health, and Justice Committees, and together with her colleagues, has brought increased transparency and accessibility to the board and county government. Sharon has been an advocate for openness and commonsense solutions during her time on the board.

As state representative, Sharon will be a dedicated advocate for working families, a compassionate ally for the marginalized, and a tireless fighter for the residents of the 91st District.

  • Lower Costs for Families: Skyrocketing costs are unacceptable, and Sharon is fighting to deliver real results for all of us. She is fiercely dedicated to lowering taxes, cracking down on corporate price-gouging, and reining in the high costs of health care and pharmaceuticals
  • End Violence Against Women: A committed leader in the struggle to end violence against women, Sharon will work tirelessly to invest in domestic violence shelters, provide mental and physical health care for survivors, and keep guns out of the hands of abusers.
  • Advocate for our Communities: Sharon believes strongly in the power of education and getting the resources families need. She will work to rebuild our infrastructure, bringing new parks, roads, bridges, and champion education that prepares the next generation for high-wage jobs in our communities.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Illinois

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
