Vincent Gentile was a Democratic member of the New York City Council in the state of New York, representing District 43 from 2003 to 2017. He was not eligible to run for re-election to the city council in 2017 due to term limits.[1][2]

Gentile was a candidate for district attorney of Kings County, New York. He was defeated in the Democratic primary on September 12, 2017, and ran as a Reform Party candidate in the general election on November 7, 2017. Gentile was defeated in the primary and the general election by Democratic incumbent Eric Gonzalez.

Before becoming a member of the city council, Gentile served in the New York State Senate from 1997 to 2002. He ran in the special election for New York's 11th Congressional District but was defeated by Daniel Donovan in the general election on May 5, 2015.[2][3]

Gentile holds a B.S. in government from Cornell University and a J.D. from Fordham University. His professional experience includes working as a prosecutor in the New York District Attorney's Office.[2]

A primary election was held on September 12, 2017. The filing deadline for candidates in this election was July 13, 2017. Gentile filed to run as a Democratic and Reform Party candidate.

Incumbent Eric Gonzalez (D) defeated Vincent Gentile (Reform) in the Kings County district attorney general election.[4]

Gentile ran in the 2015 special election to the U.S. House seat in New York's 11th Congressional District, which became vacant after the resignation of Michael Grimm (R). He was defeated by Republican Daniel Donovan in the general election on May 5, 2015.[3][6]
