|Nate Davidson is a resident of midtown Harrisburg, where he lives with his wife, Caitlin, daughter, Ella, and baby boy on the way. For the past five years, he has worked in the House of Representatives, first as Floor Manager to the Democratic Caucus and then on the House Appropriations Committee as Senior Advisor to the Chair.
During his time working in the House, Nate helped pass important legislation for Pennsylvania families, including:
Increased funding for our public education system
Support for apprenticeship programs and career and technical education
Expanded the Property Tax & Rent Rebate Program for seniors and adults with disabilities
Protection for abortion access and reproductive freedom
Clean Slate expansion, probation reform, and other criminal justice reform legislation
Making it easier for Pennsylvanians to vote by allowing no-excuse mail-in voting
Born and raised in Dauphin County and a graduate of Messiah College, he learned the value of service to others from his parents who were active in their local church and other community organizations. After graduating from college, Nate found a career in electing Democrats from Township Supervisor to the US Senate who could positively impact their community. As our Representative in the House, Nate has the experience to be an effective leader on day one and deliver for the residents of Cumberland and Dauphin Counties, as well as the greater Susquehanna Valley.
- Pro-Choice - Everyone should have access to reproductive healthcare. Defending access to abortion care in Pennsylvania is my top priority.
- Pro-Public Education - Our public tax dollars should be invested in our public schools. I oppose voucher proposals that divert public resources away from public schools, and I would work to increase investment in our public education system.
- Pro-Union - Everyone deserves the right to organize and join a union without fear of intimidation or retaliation. Unions empower the working class to receive fair compensation, safe workplaces, and a family-sustaining career.
I am a core values Democrat who believes in the preservation and expansion of rights, such as the right to vote and the right to privacy. In addition, I believe that we should use public resources to invest in public goods, such as education and infrastructure. Whether it is defending our democratic system of government, driving out resources to local projects, or investing in our public schools, I am eager to work in a collaborative way with regional partners to move Central Pennsylvania forward.
My father was a physician and educator who had a compassionate heart. He taught me to always be learning, a love for the outdoors, and that there is no higher calling than helping your neighbors.
I have nearly a decade of experience working with Pennsylvania state legislators in both a political and government capacity. Over that time I have developed many personal relationships with advocates and legislators, as well as helped pass common sense legislation in the House of Representatives. My experience in building bipartisan coalitions has prepared me to be ready to deliver for our community on day one.
State Representatives serve two important roles in Pennsylvania. Their first responsibility is to be an advocate for their constituents and their intersections with state government. Connecting constituents to benefits programs, helping them navigate professional licensing, or bring state government leaders to discuss local projects are all critical responsibilities. Secondly, legislators in Pennsylvania are the only individuals who can author and file legislation to change existing statute or the constitution. Working with other legislators to make state government more transparent and accessible to Pennsylvanians and advance common sense legislation requires collaboration with local and state officials.
I was a janitor for 4 years in high school.
In our system of government, the Executive Branch and Legislative Branch share in their responsibility to authorize and execute the use of public resources to make investments in our Commonwealth. Each has authority, as defined in the Constitution, but neither has sole authority to operate the state government. As such, the Governor and State Legislature must form a relationship that works together to advance the common interests of our state.
First is funding for public education. With the recent Commonwealth Court decision which found that Pennsylvania has been unconstitutionally underfunding our public schools, the Legislature and Governor must act. Second is the looming transportation funding problem. Pennsylvania's transportation system is in need of investment and repair, and current long term revenue projections indicate that there are significant funding issues over time.
State legislators with previous experience in government or politics can provide many benefits for the communities they represent and preservation of our system of government over the long term. The ability to form relationships and collaborative partnerships is crucial to legislative politics, and individuals who have experience doing that can be more effective at delivering for their constituents.
Having said that, previous experience in government or politics should not be a requirement for public service. In our democratic system of government, we should encourage many different types of voices to participate in the process and serve in public office. In legislative bodies particularly, diverse voices are important so that each constituency has an advocate in the Legislature.
Relationship and coalition building is a foundational part of being an effective legislator. Ushering a piece of legislation through the legislative process requires an understanding of the rules, but more importantly it requires strong relationships with other legislators who can help champion the issue.

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
