In over six years as a public servant, my driving ambition has always been to put Northeast Pennsylvania in the best possible position for the next generation to thrive and prosper. That motivation has grown even stronger since my wife Mary Kate and I have welcomed our beautiful baby daughters, Maggie and Clare.

During my Time on Scranton City Council, including currently serving as Council President, I'm proud to have played a part working with past and present administrations, economic recovery experts, and business leaders to help Scranton shed its 30-year long financially distressed status.

In order to move our region forward in a positive direction, it is imperative that we have a strong leader here at home and in Harrisburg. I truly believe our best days are ahead of us, we must fight for it, together.

  • Every child deserves an equal opportunity to achieve succes. That is why fair funding for our schools is vital to all school districts. We must provide our teachers and our children with the resources they require while providing property-tax relief to our senior citizens.
  • Every Pennsylvanian deserves affordable, accessible and quality health care. No one should have to choose between their health and basic necessities like food, gasoline, or their homes. We must stand up against insurance special interests. We must also guarantee that all women have the right to make health care decisions for themselves.
  • Our democracy is currently under unprecedented attack and has never been more fragile. We cannot sit idly by while extreme factions continue to undermine our elections for partisan gain. We must fight to protect the integrity of our elections, enact comprehensive campaign finance reform, end political gerrymandering, and expand ballot access for all Pennsylvanians.

First and foremost, fair funding for all school districts must be the cornerstone of our education policy in Pennsylvania. A child's education should not be determined by their zip code. I am a strong supporter of universal Pre-K and for the expansion of early education childhood education so that we can begin to give children the basic instruction needed so that they can achieve success throughout their educational journey.

We must also reform the way our state legislature and government in general operate. Too many of us have witnessed corruption at all levels of government, which has wasted taxpayer dollars and have often broken our faith in government. I am proud to have worked tirelessly to restore accountability, transparency and good government to the City of Scranton. I will continue that work in Harrisburg by fighting for legislative rules that hold legislators accountable to their constituents and would actually allow bipartisan cooperation. We must end the per diems which act as expense reimbursement to legislators with out having to itemize or provide receipts for a legislatures actual cost.

We must also make smart investments in our states infrastructure so we are able to live up to our Keystone State nickname. We must make smart investments into our hardworking middle class and the small businesses who employ and support them through life sustaining wages. We must also raise the minimum wage to provide a living wage to all people.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Pennsylvania

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
