Matthias Burnett Tallmadge was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the District of New York and the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York. He joined the District of New York in 1806 after an appointment from Thomas Jefferson. At the time of appointment, he was a private practice attorney in New York. Tallmadge was reassigned to the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York on April 9, 1814. He resigned on July 1, 1819 and passed away on October 1, 1819.[1]

Judicial career
District of New York
He was nominated by President Thomas Jefferson on December 20, 1805 to a seat vacated by John Sloss Hobart . He was confirmed by the Senate on December 23, 1805, and received commission on January 17, 1806. He was reassigned on April 9, 1814.[1] His position was vacated by the abolition of the court.
Northern District of New York
Matthias Burnett Tallmadge was reassigned to the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York on April 9, 1814. He resigned on July 1, 1819.[1]
