Martin Schmotzer is a former Democrat member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives representing District 22 from 2012-2013. He served the remainder of former Rep. Chelsa Wagner's term.
An April 24, 2012, special election was held to fill the seat. The vacancy was created when Wagner resigned in January after being elected Allegheny County controller in November 2011.[1][2] Schmotzer also ran unsuccessfully for the seat for the next term, falling in the Democratic primary held the same day.

Schmotzer defeated Chris Cratsley (R) in the special election on April 24, 2012, garnering 58.8% of the vote. Party ward leaders nominated candidates for the election.[3][4]

Schmotzer ran in the 2012 election for Pennsylvania House District 22. Schmotzer and Shawn Lunny were defeated by Erin Molchany in the Democratic primary on April 24.[5]
