|I am a seventh generation Middle Tennessean. I graduated from McGavock High School in Nashville, got a Bachelor's in Computer Science from University of Tennessee-Knoxville and a MBA from Tennessee State University. I have worked in the healthcare and software industries for 30 years with the same company. I was on the County Commission for four terms concentrating on lower taxes, great schools, and personal freedom. I am a Christian attending Cross Point church with my wife Leigh. Together we have five grown children and are looking forward to welcoming our first grandchild in November.
- Economy and Inflation - The economy is shrinking and inflation is out of control. We must create better jobs, achieve energy independence, and remove constraints on businesses to improve the economy and our standard of living
- Education - In Tennessee only 35 percent of students are reading at grade level. We must attract more talented individuals to the teaching profession, support our current teachers, and provide parents with greater control over their children's education.
- Personal Freedoms - We have seen the attempts to limit our personal freedoms in the past three years. I believe that people know best for themselves, their health and their families. I am pro-life, believing that we should support the mothers and the born and unborn children, and pro-2nd Amendment to defend our families and our freedoms.
1. Economy - Better jobs and more opportunities.
2. Education -- Better public schools and better opportunities for parents to determine their child's education.
3. Personal Freedoms - Pro-Life - Pro-2nd Amendment.
I look up to Ronald Reagan. He was firm in his beliefs - spoke them without hesitation and used humor to make his points.
My ability to build consensus around an idea. I have great questioning ability, the ability to draw people towards a goal and the persistence to achieve that goal.
I want my children to be proud of me.
I remember the Kennedy Assassination and was five at the time.
My first job was helping a home builder in getting the yards of his homes ready for occupation.
Proud to be an American from the fourth of July parades.
Due to a divorce, my mother had to sell our family home while I was in high school. Moving from the only home that I had known into an apartment during high school was a struggle. I learned that having friends and a support system is critical. With the help of others, we can persevere and be successful regardless of immediate circumstances.
It's not the joke - it's the delivery - please ask me in person to tell you......
