Lynn earned her B.S. in economics/history from Tennessee State University. She has worked in regulatory compliance and process improvement.

Tennessee Health Freedom Act

Lynn denounced statements in campaign ads of Senator Mae Beavers and urged Beavers to follow the guidelines outlined in a bill Beavers filed but never ran about truthful campaigning.

Lynn says that Beavers falsely claims in print and in radio advertisements that Lynn killed the Healthcare Freedom Act by cutting a deal with the Speaker of the House, Kent Williams in the last week of session.

Lynn responded to Beavers’ attack by saying, “This is untrue, and Senator Beavers can cite no evidence because such an event never occurred. There is no reason why I would kill my own legislation after I worked on the Healthcare Freedom Act for a year.”[1]

The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was April 3, 2014. Jesse McLevain was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Incumbent Susan Lynn was unopposed in the Republican primary. Lynn defeated McLevain the general election.[6][7]

Lynn ran unsuccessfully for the 17th District state senate seat in 2010. Mae Beavers defeated Lynn and Gordon Borck in the August 5 primary.[10] Beavers faced Democrat George McDonald in the general election on November 2, 2010.

2008

On Nov. 4, 2008, Lynn won re-election to the 57th District Seat in the Tennessee House of Representatives, defeating opponent Ken Wilkinson (D).[11]

Lynn raised $61,583 for her campaign while Wilkinson raised $30,369.[12]
