Simply Trendy Designs Challenge #1
This is number 1 in a challenge I created using my daughters jewelry. My daughter has a business called Simply Trendy Designs , I thought it would be fun every Saturday (hopefully) to post a picture of one of her pieces and design a card after it. You can play along too, just leave a comment with a link or post on SCS under keywords using STDC1.You can click on the link above to visit her site.
She called her piece "Purple Chunk". When she showed it to me she said for some reason she could imagine a card made with an elephant, I told her I had just the stamp for that! Her bracelets are sterling silver beads, crystals and mostly hand made beads...this one is gorgeous!
The stamp I used is a $1.99 clear stamp, I added some silver cord and my own sterling silver bead to that. The DS paper is a scrap piece and the cardstock is all SU as well as the ink.
Paper: Stampin'Up! Pale Plum, Basic Black, Going Gray, Basic Gray.
Ink: Perfect Plum

Bird On A Branch Scrap Card
FIRST: Don't forget to go below to sign up for my Blog Candy, you can sign up on two different posts! I will be drawing a name, random on the evening of March first.....you will LOVE that birdie wheel!
Isn't it fun to make a card using scraps?? I had lots of the Riding Hood Red DS paper left over in smaller pieces, so I put it to good use as well as the smaller pieces of cardstock.
I did add some silver with a glitter pen to add a bit more "bling", it just needed something. I love cards with sentiments like this, they can can be used for almost any occassion.
It was a frustrating morning, my computer malfunctioned and I lost my icons for Paypal and of all things my mailbox, now how frustrating is that??? I spent about an hour trying to figure out how to get them back, let alone I had to log into everything all over again So, if you see my icons floating around somewhere in "cyber-space" would you return them to me...LOL!
Also, the ribbon jars, I just picked up at Michael's with the 40% off sale. Now I have LOTS and LOTS of ribbon, but this is what I wound on mostly wooden clothes pins and then sorted by color, with the exception of the Halloween and Xmas ribbons. I love having these, so easy now to choose a ribbon, I can refill the containers as they need it. I hate having my ribbons on a spool, they just take up too much room and are all different sizes. The only ones I keep on the spools are my SU ribbons.
Card Recipe: Paper: Very Vanilla CS, Riding Hood Red DS , Kiwi Kiss CS, Riding Hood Red CS, Ink: Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss, Stamps: SU Bird On A Branch, Accessories: ribbon, SU Silvr Brads, Silver glitter pen.

Workshop Treats & Sale-A-Bration Card
Here are a few "goodies" I made for an upcoming workshop. I used the FREE with $50 purchase Sale-A-Bration set called Yummy! The "topper" is cut with my Big Shot SU "Top Note" die. I don't think a day goes by that I don't grab that die for one reason or another, it has sooooooo many uses! The background paper is some I picked up locally at our scrapbook store, perfect for my jelly beans. These jelly beans are from Walmart, and they come bagged by color, now how cool is that??? I am going back today and grabbing ALL the colors, they are yummy, too, just like the label says!!! The cardstock I used is of course SU called Pink Passion, the little clear bags are also from Walmart and are Wilton.
The card I made using the Sale-A-Bration set Polka Dot Punches..This is a great set as it works with some of our SU punches, very useful! The base cardstock is SU Certainly Celery, the DS paper is one of the free selections called Delicate Dots Designer Series Paper., inks are Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery, and So Saffron. The little gems are just some I picked up. I also used the SU scallop edge punch. Only the month of March remains to get YOUR free sets....contact me at my email address shown in my profile or at http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/stampinwithnellie/ and I can help you eant a free set!

Happy Valentines Day!
This is a very quick card I made for my hubby for Valentine's Day...hope its not too girly for him, I left off all ribbon and bling, but he expects a homemade card, and had I planned it better I could of come up with a much better card..oh well, it will do the job!
I used the confetti like stamp from the new SU set "Branch Out", paper pieced the wheelbarrow from the SU set Blooming With Love, added the hearts using the stamp from SU Loads of Love, the pine trees and the sentiment are from the same set! I stapled the sentiment on, thought that mike make it look more "manly".

TGIF~Friday the 13th~Yikes!
TGIF, even though its Friday the 13th! But, I have to admit, since I am now at home full time, one day is the same as another to me, and I love it!
To share witth you today is a basket I made for a "give away" for one of my drawings at my SU workshop I had last Sunday. I love the Basket and Blooms die, they are so fast, and so pretty when done. I used my favorite DS paper Bella Rose. The basket is full of Valentine Chocolate Hearts that are wrapped in foil.

Sale-A-Bration Polka Dot Punches Stamp Set
Card Made with Free Polka Dot Punches Stamp Set Free stamp set Polka Dot Punches with $50 purchase I must be hoping for Spring, as it seems my latest cards have been floral and bright! This set Polka Dot Punches you can earn free with only $50 in Stampin'Up! purchases from me from now until March 31st! I love how this set stamps! I have been trying to use some of my other wonderful SU cardstock and ink colors besides just the "in colors". I managed it a bit by adding Apricot Appeal to this card! Again, I used the little leaves die cut, don't you just love it!! The sentiment is from another Sale-A-Bration set called "Yummy"! I stamped Kiwi Kiss CS using the Baroque Motifs set, and then cut my little leaves die out of the same paper...recipe for the card is below.
Recipe: Cardstock: Pacific Point~ Kiwi Kiss~ Apricot Appeal~Whisper White
Ink: Kiwi Kiss~Pacific Point~Tangerine Tango
Stamp Set: Yummy~Polka Dot Punches
Accessories: Scallop Circle Punch~5 Petal Flower Punch~SU little leaves die~Hodge Podge HW Brad~Top Note Die~Round Tab Punch~Corner Rounder Punch
New Big Shot Die Cuts
Stampin'Up! Flower Burst embosslit die
Close up showing more detail My new SU order came in on Monday~this is the first chance I had to work with it. I have to say I am "in love" with the new dies! It is amazing what can be done with them. I was up very early again this am, and this is what I came up with.
I used Stampin'Up! sizzlit die little leaves, I have to mention that for $4.95, this little die is worth its weight in gold! The new die is Stampin"Up! Flower Burst...boy oh boy, do I LOVE this one! It is an embosslit die (cuts and embosses at the same time), I can't tell you how many of these I cut this morning, it was lots!
I used SU Kiwi Kiss ink and cardstock for the base of the card and the leaves , I sponged ink on my whisper white cs. The sentiment is from the new hostess set "God's Beauty". The only non SU I used was my VersaMagic chalk inks, only because I have them out right now and just love the colors on these dies, though the SU Stampin Spots would have the same effect!
Like what you see? If yould like to order, just visit my website on my side bar at the left top or email me and I can help you out...I do take Paypal..........and don't forget, with every $50 order you get a free set from the Sale_A-Bration catty!

Cupcakes With a Cherry On Top
I already made a card for the From Courtney's Closet Challenge, but decided to add one more to it! I LOVE this big cupcake stamp from SU called Simple Birthday Thanks, but, gee, I wish they would of left the sentiment off, and gave us a couple sentiments chooce from and stamp on it as we saw fit! Oh well, it still works, but just "a bit more work" to do! I used alot of stickles on this card , but love how it gives it the "bling". Do you recognize the background stamp? Bet you don't, its from the NEW SU set called "Branch Out".....that stamp is going to come in real handy for lots of projects. For the ink, I almost ALWAYS grab my SU inks, but I have drawers of others, so I decided to use chalk ink and used ColorBox Rouge and Versa Magic Dew Drop Key Lime!
The second card I had to dig out a retired long ago SU set called Funky Favorites for the chair. The frame is also SU called Double-line Doodles. I stamped a cupcake in the frame, used my SU scallop border punch for the curtain valance, SU oval punch for the oval rug and ran it thru my CB for texture...so what do you think???

Workshop Purse Card Using 4 Stampin'Up! Punches!
Candy Bar Pull~YUM!
These are the designs I used for my workshop today...thanks Suzi! Wanted to wait and post them while the workshop was going on, didn't want any "sneak peeks" from the girls! The first one I cased from another blog and loved it! I love this Baroque Motifs set, and use it when I can, but I need a new group of girls, as after this group, they have all seen it. I did it with Pacific Point and Kiwi ink and paper. I also have a few others I did just to show how different they are in other color combos! These colors were used with Certainly Celery, they are Rose Red, Pale Plum and Perfect Plum! I also have a layout of what my table looks like as I preparing my kits before they are bagged!
The second card I saw sometime ago on another blog, making a card using several SU punches to make these cute little purses, (Rhonda, if you are reading this post, I am sending you all these cards and the recipes to make them)!
The last is the candy bar pull, I thought these would be nice, as each guest at the workshop would receive a candy bar! You just pull the ribbon up and the candy bar pulls out, and what is neat, it can be used again and again!!

Shimmerz Blingz Cards.....my third new post today!!
I have been busy this morning!!! I got up at 4am and it was so quiet (except for the wind blowing and all the melting snow dripping) that I decided to close myself in my "studio" and have some fun with a new product I got a week or so ago called Shimmerz Blingz!
My first card is a "Happy Hoppers" called Relaxing Bunny! I used Shimmerz Blingz Pixie Dust on his tub and bubbles...love~love how it gave the water all that "shimmer"!!!! I also used Cord-in-nations Chocolate paper, it comes in all this yummy brown, you sand it and the color from underneath comes thru! Click on the bunny to see the shimmer up close!
My second card I used a stamp from Stampin'Up! called Morning Soft. I cut it apart and applied Shimmerz Blingz Hottie Pink to all but the very top edges, trying to get a shadow effect (click on the photo for up close detail). I added a bit of Stickles to the center, and I have to say that Shimmerz and Stickles work hand in hand together, like they were made for each other! The background is of course a Cuttlebug embossing folder....thanks for looking!
Balancing Act for From Courtney's Closet Challenge
Several months ago I was playing the "From Courtney's Closet" challenge and now I am finally back into the challenge mode! I had lots of fun with this one, as I have all kinds of "cupcake" themed stamping items (don't we all?)! The stamp I used for this is from All Night Media, A Mary Engelbreit design. I changed the dog and tried to make him look "hairy" like my Goldendoodle, the stamp had gift boxes balancing on his nose, but I added a cupcake using my QuicKutz die.
My NEW product I used was Shimmerz Blingz, I used it for the cupcake frosting and the dots on the party hat(Hottie Pink), I also added some "Blingz" to the heart brad, the stripes in the cupcake ........I gotta say I LOVE this stuff, the color I used on the brad and stripes is "Pixie Dust". These are the only 2 colors I have at this point, but will be ordering more for sure! You can visit the challenge and participate to win some blog candy by going here go check it out!
Think Spring
I am soooooooooo wanting the cold to go away and Spring to get here. It has been a cold and brutal winter here in Michigan, and I think everyone agrees we have had it!! It is very windy out today and it is to warm up to about 42, for us, that will be like summer compared to the below zero and sub zero temps we have had for months!
So, with all that being said, as I am working on new cards and projects to post, I decided I would share a photo from my garden last year of one of my very favorite flowers Verbascum. I don't much care for the plant itself, but the flower more than makes up for it. The ones I have planted, have a vintage look to them that I just love. I have them in about 3 colors and am forever searching for new varieties! Enjoy.....hopefully Spring will be here soon!

Birdie In a Peach Tree
I bought a new acrylic stamp set from Inkadinkadoo on Saturday called "inchies". I have been wanting to try these little stamps and JoAnn's had them on sale for 40% off, so it was a good time to purchase them! Only thing is, they had several sets and it was hard to choose which ones to get! I used my Stampin'Up! "Stampin Spots" in the earth elements set. I love these little inks for the acrylic stamps, they just go on so great!'
The tree stamp (Hampton Arts)is one I got last summer at a garage sale, can you believe someone would get rid of such a neat tree??? I am glad they did though, and it was only $2! I know it is suspose to be an apple tree, but I turned it into a peach tree!
Just a practice card really, using scraps mostly. I like the SU cardstocks I used, Blush Blossom, Bashful Blue (my favorite) and Kiwi Kiss!
I have other things to post, but some can't until after my SU workshop on Sunday, I don't want anyone at the workshop to see them until then. I am working on a couple of challenges, working with my new Shimmerz, and I have a new Flip Book I am hoping to get done and posted sometime today!
