Session Goals:
At the end of the 2-hour session, the participants
are expected to:

• Identify the nature, process, and importance of

sequencing events as a reading
comprehension skill;
• Recognize and utilize different strategies for
sequencing events; and
• Demonstrate competence in explicit teaching
of sequencing of events.

1. What preparations are common to

all?
2. What leads to the next
preparation or event?
3. What particular words have you
noticed in each sequence?
National Training on Literacy Instruction

“The event that we do leads to

another. This is why we need to
chronological arrange these events
and record them accordingly.
Hence, leads to organization of
thoughts and better writing.”

Reflection Questions:
1. Why is it important for the learners to
master this competency?
2. What is the prime goal of this
competency?
3. How can signal words usher help?
4. Why is using graphic organizers an
effective way to comprehend the text?

ASSESSMENT ( TRUE/FALSE)
1. Sequencing is the process of “bringing order to a
group of ideas, items, or processes.
2. It is an important component only in problem solving
across the curriculum.
3. Knowing the structure of a text and how it is put
together will help learners organize information and
ideas in their own writing.
4. Using graphic organizer is the most effective strategy
in sequencing.
5. Explicit teaching is a process of I do, We do and You
do.
ADD ONS
• It is easy to identify the sequence of
events using linear texts guided with the
signal words because of its reading path
( beginning, middle, end)
• However, in a nonlinear text, the reading
path is nonlinear and non-sequential;
thus, the reader can choose his own
reading path.
• Always guide the learners’ whether it is
linear or non-linear text
