Research Methodology
Design
The researcher will be using descriptive-survey method to determine student’s
profile, teaching style of the teacher in teaching mathematics, and the attitude of the
students towards learning mathematics. The researcher will also be using correlational
research design since it aimed to measure the relationship among the said variables.
The relationship of teacher’s teaching style and the student’s attitude towards
mathematics will be determined using the questionnaire from Teaching Style
Questionnaire and the published research of Anantika Sanchal of Te Kuiti High School
and Sashi Sharma of the University of Waikato. The main goal is to propose an action
plan to develop the confidence of the students towards learning mathematics with
effective teaching styles.
Respondents
The respondents of this study were the 171 grade 12 students of Bohol
Northeastern Education Foundation selected through stratified random sampling based
on age and sex.

The study was conducted at Bohol Northeastern Education Foundation.
Instrument
The researcher divided the instruments into three (3) parts, namely: student’s
profile, teacher’s teaching style and the attitude of the students towards mathematics.
Profile. This part of the instrument determined the student’s age and sex.
Teacher’s teaching style. This part of the instrument, the researchers adapted the
questionnaire from Teaching Style Questionnaire by Xerun Styx. This instrument is
composed of items about the different teacher’s teaching style . Teaching style that gets
a low score will indicate a low level of effectiveness, while a high score means a high
level of effectiveness.
Attitude of the students towards mathematics. The researcher adapted the
questionnaire from the published research of Anantika Sanchal of Te Kuiti High School
and Sashi Sharma of the University of Waikato. This instrument is composed of items
about the attitudes of a student towards mathematics. Students who will get a high
score will indicate a high level of confidence towards mathematics, while those who got
a low score mean a low level of confidence. Thus, an action plan will be proposed.
TABLE B. The following measures and interpretations will be used in analysis
Parameters Responses Meaning Weight Interpretation
3.25-4.00 Strongly Agree Very Good 4 High level of confidence
2.50-3.24 Agree Good 3 Moderate level of
confidence
1.75-2.49 Disagree Fair 2 A fair level of
confidence
1.00-1.74 Strongly Disagree Poor 1 Poor level of confidence
Furthermore, after the data gathering, the data will be then subjected to a
normality test to determine the appropriate statistical treatment to test the null
hypothesis.
Since the instrument is modified, pilot testing of the tool is being administered.
During the pilot test, the data gathered were subjected to a Cronbach Alpha for its
reliability and validity.
As a result, the overall Cronbach alpha coefficient of the three dimensions is.
Therefore, the items have
Data Gathering Procedure
The researchers will first verify the reliability and validity of the questionnaires.
Afterward, the researcher will gather information related to the study and fact-check the
sources of the information gathered. Second, the researcher will seek to provide a
written permit to the following: President, Vice-President for Education, and Principal to
ask for approval for the conduct of the study in the grade 12 student respondents of the
school Bohol Northeastern Education Foundation. A letter will also be addressed to the
advisers of the respondents mentioned above to sought permission to conduct the
study. Third, the researcher will explain the purpose of the study. After that, the
researchers will distribute the questionnaire to the grade 12 respondents. Furthermore,
the questionnaires will be collected to be tallied and undergo statistical treatment to
answer the study and sub-problems.
