MY REFLECTION IN STAND AND DELIVER

Many famous people, philosophers, and other professionals have defined education. Rizal
believed that education was the way to achieving reformation, ending injustices, and releasing all
Filipinos from poverty and ignorance. At the words of Albert Einstein, "Education is what stays after one
has forgotten what one has learned in school," and according to Aristotle, "the root of education is
bitter, but its fruit is delicious." For Dewy, education is not a means of preparing for life; it is life itself.
This movie reminds teachers and aspiring teachers on their role and what it takes to be a teacher. May it
therefore remind us, future teachers, and teachers, on what it really means to be a teacher and the role
we play in the lives of our students. The movie "Stand and Deliver" shows how important education is,
particularly it tackles the crucial and important role of teacher in education.

Throughout the entire film, teacher Jaime Escalante embodies the SSS, or Self-Sacrificing Spirit. He never
gave up on those students, no matter how difficult it was to teach them. He never stopped pursuing his
career. Throughout the film, he faces challenges, his family does not seem to be in favor of his full-time
job, others have questioned his choice of career, and he receives negative feedback. However, he has
the self-sacrificing spirit that has allowed him to persevere in his career despite all these difficulties.
Since teaching was my chosen career, I would probably send a resignation letter the next day if I were in
teacher Jaime's shoes. However, instructor Jaime taught me to stay firm in front of the class and carry
out my duties. There is never an easy first year of teaching. Because it is their classroom and their class,
and if they leave, it is their loss, teachers lose when they leave. I learned from teacher Jaime that
quitting in a situation like the class is not an option. must constantly be as inventive as possible and,
more significantly, must have the SSS, or Self-Sacrificing Spirit.

A true teacher imparts knowledge not from a book but rather from the soul. All the students in teacher
Jaime's care concerned him. When he found out about Anita's predicament, he found a method to
contact her parents and helped them see the value of education. His line of work extends beyond the
boundaries of the space. Wherever he goes, he always goes about his business. He helped Anita's father
recognize the value of education and the misconception that just because he worked as a server
growing up, her daughter must do the same. Here, teacher Jaime teaches not just what is in the book
but also what is in his heart. Along with the information from the book, he imparts to his student’s
important life skills. I learned from this that I do not have to teach every idea from the book. Since some
things cannot be learned through a book but rather from the heart, there are times when we must go
beyond what is written in the textbook or even put it away.

To quote "All you see is the turn, you don't see the road ahead." Yes, these were the words of teacher
Jaime to Francisco. In order to show Francisco, the importance education in logical but meaningful way.
He reiterates to Francisco that he will choose between be the one to repair it or be the one to build it.
He stated that we are fond on taking the turn road and tend to forget we have a brighter future ahead
of us. If ever I would encounter students like that, I can imitate the action of teacher Jaime if I would like
to reiterate also the importance of education if my students are taking the turn road. Instead of forcing
my students to accept and embrace my teaching it is better if they would embrace it because they saw it
with their own two eyes and felt the importance of the learning. Teacher Jaime made Francisco
recognize on his own what would happen to him if he took the wrong path rather than criticizing him.
You will need to make sacrifices along the way, you will likely get harmed, you will face criticism and
judgment, and failures are possible. But if you persevered through all the hard work, you will eventually
reap the rewards. Success is undoubtedly the sweet fruit of the bitter root that is education, even
though the path may be difficult and full of bumps. Whether students succeed or fail on the exam...
They Glowed. The remarks came from Mr. Escalante's wife. Learning the theories presented in the four
corners of the classroom and passing exams are not the only components of education. When you were
able to change their lives and touch their hearts, that is when learning truly took place. The true test of
education is when a person begins to apply the lessons, he is learning in the four corners of the
classroom to his daily activities. It is evident in how one respects others. His attitude and self-discipline
show it. His continued honesty in the face of others' dishonesty is evident. even if some people will not
and some people do not. That is what Albert Einstein want us to be. Educated cognitively and
emotionally.

Finally, teacher Jaime demonstrates unwavering respect for his pupils. He never assigns his students a
grade based on their race, social standing, or reputation. He thinks of his pupils as pieces of clay you can
just gather. When you hold them and shape them, you may make a lovely vase. Because teacher Jaime
first exemplifies what respect is and because he was dearly liked by his students, it was clear that they
were connected because they repaired and beautifully decorated his car. Respect and trust are
combined, and it kind of makes me think of the Disney film "Raya and the Last Dragon." Sometimes,
even before we are prepared, we must merely take the first step. Our apathy and ignorance can
occasionally be the real root of why education appears pointless. The idea that respect is only necessary
for students needs to be changed. Let us start readjusting our thinking and rerouting our actions
because, as teachers, our small actions will have large effects on the lives of our students.

Education can be passed down from one generation to the next because it is a living thing. The life of
learning must continue. It should not be treated as a weapon but as a living thing that needs to be loved
and cared for in order to develop and flourish. The noblest profession and ideal career for anyone to
have is teaching. Doctors, lawyers, judges, architects, and other well-known professions would not exist
without the teaching profession. A career in teaching is very demanding.

The need for teachers in our nation is great, especially considering recent changes to the educational
system. Teaching entails not only concentrating on developing the abilities, talents, and intellectual
capacity of your students, but also being adaptable and vigilant in terms of spotting their weaknesses
and assets. You take on the role of a role model and a second parent in the community, so you should
take extra care in all your decisions, in how you present yourself to others, and in how you behave.
Recognize that teaching is the only profession that has the power to shape or sabotage a student's
future, and that you must exert effort and patience to complete your task.

"I do believe that what really matters and value the most is our character and attitude when we were
already in the teaching world."
