Training

District Institute for Education and Training (DIET) are dist rict -level educat ional inst it ut es
which have been est ablished in each dist rict of India by t he Indian government . They help in
coordinat ing and implement ing government policies at dist rict level. About 3 million primary and
element ary t eachers need recurrent orient at ion t o innovat ions in t eaching and learning at t he
school level. The DIET has been charged wit h t his responsibilit y.

DIETs have been est ablished as cent res of guidance for educat ional inst it ut es and schools of a
dist rict . They also work as a plat form for research and experiment al work in t he educat ional
domain. It also organizes programmes t o t rain t eachers in new innovat ion.
