FS 2 LEARNING EPISODE 1 – PRINCIPLES

OF LEARNING
My Learning Episode Overview
This episode i s c e n t e r e d o n t i m e - t e s t e d p r i n c i p l e s o f
learning which when applied will lead to effective
learning. It is good to find out the manner and the
extent to which these principles are applied in the
classroom

My Intended Learning outcomes

In this episode, I must be able to identify classroom practices that
apply or violate each of the principles of learning.

My Performance Criteria
I will be rated along the following:
 Quality of my observation and documentation
 Completeness and depth of analysis
 Depth and clarity of classroom observation-based reflection
 Completeness, organization, clarity of portfolio
 Time of Submission of my Portfolio

My Learning Essentials
Here are time-tested principles of learning
 Effective Learning Begins with setting clear expectations and learning
outcomes.
 Learning is an active process “What I hear, I forget; What I see, I
remember; What I do , I understand”
 Learning is the Discovery of the personal meaning of ideas . The student
are given the opportunity to connect what they learn with other concepts
learned , with real world experiences and with their own lives .
 Learning is a cooperative and a collaborative process.

LEARNING EPISODE 1- PRINCIPLES OF LEARNING

My Map
To realize my Intended Learning Outcomes, I will work my way
through these steps:

GUIDED BY A QUESTION/QUESTIONS , I WILL REFLECT ON MY

STEP 1 EXPERIENCE , WRITE DOWN MY REFLECTION.

I WILL IDENTIFY EVIDENCE OF APPLICATIONS/ VIOLATION OF

STEP 2 THE PRINCIPLES OF LEARNING (YOU ARE GIVE N A SAMPLE
IN #1 PRINCIPLE) I CAN CITE MORE THAN ONE EVIDENCE
PER PRINCIPLE OF LEARNING

STEP
3 I WILL OBSERVE CLASS

STEP
4 I WILL REVIIEW THE PRINCIPLES OF LEARNING GIVEN IN
“MY LEARNING ESSENTIALS”

LEARNING EPISODE 1- PRINCIPLES OF LEARNING

My Tools
As I observe a class , I will used the Observation Sheet for a more focused
observation then analyzed and reflect on my observation with the help of
guide questions

learner as Proof of the application of learning

1. Effective learning begins with

the setting of clear high
expectations and learning The instructor declares the objectives early and he already states the
outcomes outcomes for what they are doing
The teacher allows the students to participate by letting the students
2. Learning is an Active Process answer.

3. Learning is a cooperative and

a collaborative process. Learning The teacher allows the students to fill the gaps to the answer, e.g she
is enhanced in an atmosphere of provides the keyword that allows the students to recall the answer.

LEARNING EPISODE 1- PRINCIPLES OF LEARNING

My Analysis
1. What Principle/s of Learning was/were most applied?
Effective learning begins with the setting of clear high expectations and
learning outcomes. Because the teacher always say the outcomes before
every lesson.

2. Which principles of learning was least applied ? Why was / were the
principles not very much applied ? Give instances where this/ these
principle/s could have been applied?
Learning is the Discovery of the personal meaning of ideas. Because
the teacher often gave the students the examples and didn’t allow them
to think of an answer.

3. How the application of these learning principles affect learning?

It greatly affects the outcome because if not used correctly somewhat
the information can be misleading to the learners.
4. How did the non application of these learning principles affect
learning?
e.g if the teacher didn’t use Learning is an Active Process the students
wont be as focused because they’re not involved on what’s happening.
5. Do you agree with these principles of Learning ? Or have you discovered
that they are not always correct?

I completely agree with the principles of learning because I agree that

learning needs a clear perspective of what and how learning should
be.

LEARNING EPISODE 1- PRINCIPLES OF LEARNING

My Reflection/Insights

My reflections and lesson learned on my observations of my Resource Teacher s/s/

application / non application of these principles.
Among those practices which one will I improved on? What lesson did I learn ?

I learned that it is important to always state the clear outcome or objectives in order for the students
to know whats coming, and I also learned that using examples that students can relate to will give them
motivation to learn because they can relate to the examples that are used.

 My Learning Portfolio

You may wish to state the principles of learning in your

own words or illustrate each with diagrams . Feel free
to choose how!

Effective Learning Begins with setting clear expectations and learning

outcomes- it means that before starting, stating on what’s going to happen
will help them ready themselves and to know what to expect.

Learning is an active process “What I hear, I forget; What I see, I remember;

What I do , I understand” – during learning, explaining wont always suffice.
Adding examples and using the idea or learning in real life situations (e.g
doing experiments) can help them retain the knowledge. (experience is the
best teacher)

Learning is the Discovery of the personal meaning of ideas . The student

are given the opportunity to connect what they learn with other concepts
learned , with real world experiences and with their own lives . – if the
instructor give the students an example that the students have already
experienced then they connect a lot more with the discussion.

Learning is a cooperative and a collaborative process – in cooperative the

students are grouped but graded by group and individually which can help
them respect different perspectives.
