(ENGAGE) “My Tooth Fairy”
By Jezreel Roanne Tarroquin

One day Shemaiah was wiggling her tooth.

Shemaiah: Mommy I have a loose tooth!
Mother: Well Shemaiah do you know who comes
when the tooth falls out?
Shemaiah: Who?
Mother: A tooth fairy!
Shemaiah: A tooth fairy? What will the tooth fairy
do to my fallen tooth?
Mother: When your tooth falls out, put it under your
pillow and the tooth fairy will change it for money!
Shemaiah: Really? Is that true?
Mother: Yes! Try and you’ll see.
Shemaiah’s tooth finally falls out and she put it
under her pillow and fell asleep.
Mother made sure that Shemaiah was already
sleeping before she took the tooth under her
daughter’s pillow and put money for exchange of
her tooth. Little did mother know that Shemaiah
kept on waiting for her tooth fairy to come and get
her tooth under her pillow and when she felt that
someone is inside her room, she gently opens her
eyes and found out that the real tooth fairy that her
mother is telling her is none other than her own
mother.

Guide Questions:
1. What is the title of the story?
2. What happened with Shemaiah’s tooth?
3. Who did the mother tell Shemaiah would come
when her tooth falls out?
