A Customer’s Review on the Impact of Visual Representation of Lechon in
Talisay, Cebu House of Lechon
Introduction
Good restaurant reviews are vital these days. This not only makes the decision easier
for us, it also helps the restaurant be more successful. You can quickly copy and paste
these good restaurant review examples, post them on Facebook, Yelp, or any other
review platform and help the restaurant get better reviews and more customers.
With the introduction of the online rating system, restaurants and other businesses
have also improved their quality and service to gain more positive feedback from
guests. This is from Eatsleepwander.com
Food presentation is the art of modifying, processing, arranging, or decorating food
to enhance its aesthetic appeal. The visual presentation of foods is often considered by
chefs at many different stages of food preparation, from the manner of tying or sewing
meats, to the type of cut used in chopping and slicing meats or vegetables, to the style
of mold used in a poured dish. The food itself may be decorated as in elaborately iced
cakes, topped with ornamental sometimes sculptural consumables, drizzled with
sauces, sprinkled with seeds, powders, or other toppings, or it may be accompanied by
edible or inedible garnishes (Styler & Lazarus, 2006).
It is very important for customers to know the restaurant's best-selling dishes not
only in advertisements, but also in reality, to give honest comments. It is the restaurant
management responsibilities to satisfy their customer's satisfaction level by being able
to receive good reviews from them. These days, many people complain about the food
they saw in the advertisements, but it did not meet their expectations or did not
resemble what they saw in the advertisements. Due to your concerns, we propose this
research to answer any questions about the reality of food versus what we see in
advertisements. Toronto-based food and drink photographer Sébastien Dubois
Didcock (2015) said that “Ultimately, because food is so much more temperamental,
we can’t spend that much time…at most two hours” he adds “We can’t leave the food
on set for too long. It does start to bleed or starts to fade,” Dubois-Didcock said. “We
have to make sure that when we’re styling, we are placing the right ingredients at the
right time and keep the ones that are more likely to fade or leak right at the end.” We
have moved to a specific place or restaurant as a base where many people can
relate to and used this research as a reference on what they would buy, where they
should go if they wanted to wander around and try different dishes here in Cebu.
House of Lechon is a popular place with delicious food. The above-mentioned places
are admired for the Lechon they serve to the customers, the care they order for the
customers, and the quiet location. Some people who haven't tried their specialty
have some questions about how the food differs from how it looks in advertisements
and posters.
The researchers, being consumers as well, believed that there is essence in
conducting a study regarding costumer’s review in order to create recommendations.
Furthermore, the results of the study could be the basis in creating a course in
improving the satisfaction of the customers. Also, the findings could provide pertinent
information and insight to the manager’s of the restaurant and for future researchers.
Statement of the Problem
This study aims to determine the impact of a visual representation of a dish to a
customer’s review and the reality of appearance of a dish compared to their visual
presentation located at Cebu South Road Lawaan, Talisay City,Cebu House of Lechon
This study specifically answered the following:
1. What are the advertising strategies adopted by the selected restaurants?
2. What is the customer’s level of customer satisfaction of the advertisement of the
selected restaurant?
3. What are the expectations and actual experiences of the customers?
4. How does the advertisement influence the recommendations of the customers?
Theoretical Framework

House of Lechon officially opened last November 16, 2015 with the vision to bring the
very famous Carcar Lechon to Cebu City and create a casual yet extraordinary dining
experience. It is located within the heart of the city — on Acacia Street, just a few
meters away from hotels, malls, hospitals and other commercial establishments. A
Filipino-Contemporary Inspired Restaurant designed by renowned Cebuano designer,
Vito Selma, with interiors significantly furnished with bamboos, woods, abacas in bright
pastel colors to depict a homey, contemporary ambiance in a busy part of the city. With
Filipinos on the hunt for the best lechon in the city, House of Lechon tries to perfect its
menu but it does not only stop there. The food served is being keenly chosen with a
wide selection to satisfy the palate of its target market, both Filipinos & Foreigners.
Food varies from Appetizers to its specialty dish, the famous Carcar Lechon with its
regular & spicy flavor, (H.L).
According to Lawrence Lately Great place to sample Cebu lechon
When you're out of time to venture out to towns like Carcar to try Cebu's incredibly tasty
lechon, House of Lechon brings the gorgeous roast pig to you right at the comfort of
their restaurants in the city. They have an expansive Filipino menu, but make sure to
order their lemongrass-infused, umami-bomb lechon and pair it with their amazing
dipping sauce, (Lately, 2020).
And also Overhyped, overrated today, we went to see this restaurant near our hotel for
our dinner. Ordered pork sisig, 1/4 kg spicy lechon, rice and mango shake. We were
expecting a bit above quality of food from the regular lechon and sisig that we are used
to, as the price is higher compare to other restaurants that serve the same dishes. But
to our disappointment, we have been served a burned sisig and the lechon was not
spicy in spite of a small flag saying 'spicy' that stocked to the lechon. The pork meat
was OK when it comes to tenderness, however, the skin is not that crunchy enough.
Maybe not fresh? I don’t know. The staff were very professional and smart. Overall, we
didn't enjoy the food and the experience. I wouldn't recommend the restaurant to my
friends and families.
