A DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN TLE 10

I.OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the lesson the students are expected to:

1. Explain the uses of table napkin.

2. Distinguishing the tissue paper and the cloth table napkin.

3. Demonstrate several type of table napkin folding.

II. SUBJECT MATTER:

Title: Table napkin folding

Reference: 100 classic napkin folds by Rick Reece pp.22-120

Materials: LCD projector, laptop, table napkin, (cloth and tissue), water goblet, soup bowl,
dinner plate

C. Lesson proper
Class our lesson for today is about table napkin.
I think you heard about this many times but later
on I will introduce the latest skills in table napkin folding.
First, let us learn where the word “napkin” came from
and the meaning of a table napkin.
The word comes from the Middle English, borrowing
the French word nape- a tablecloth or a cloth covering
the table and adding diminutive suffix kin.
S0, table napkin used for wiping your mouth and
hands while eating and drinking and a napkin when
creatively folded enhances the look of the table and the
dining experience.
There are only two kinds of table napkin, the cloth
table napkin and a paper napkin.
Let’s have a brief description of the table napkin
folding.
Class will some body read about the description table -raising their hands. Read.
napkin.
Okay! We have known that when table napkin is
folded in to more elaborated shapes will also make the
table setting more beautiful.
(Introducing the sizes) There are proper sizes of the
table napkin that can be used depending on the type of
meal prepared.
For the buffet that is to be folded on the lap the size
will be 27”x27”. For the dinner we are going to used
the24”x24” 0r 22”x22”, for lunch it will be 20”x20” 0r -Ma’am it’s (or derv)
18”x18”, how do you pronounce that one class?
Okay very good!
For hors d’oeuvres or for appetizers the proper size
will be 13”x13’’ and the last one for the cocktail the size
will be 6”x6”.
Moving on to our lesson. I will be discussing the
seven basic table napkin folding that is commonly used
in hotels and different fine dining restaurants. As well as
the special table napkin folding used in different
occasions. So Class, the seven basic table napkin folding
are: Banana, Pyramid, water lily, sailing boat, Bishop’s
hat, standing fan, and the candle. For the special table
napkin folding I’ll be demonstrating the trifold, night light
and the slender point.

D. Activity -Getting their given table napkin and participate in


Okay class this is what we are going to do. While I am doing the different types of table napkin folding.
demonstrating the following steps in each table napkin
folding, you may follow so that we will not be consuming
so much time and at the same time you can catch up
with the steps. So please stand up and get the paper
napkin with you.

IV. Evaluation

 Let the student practice the step by step procedures in each of the table napkin folding for several
minutes. And right after assign each to demonstrate any type of the different napkin folding.

1. Give at least three types of table skirting.


2. Submit five pictures of the different types of table skirting.
