Importance of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee in the history of Bengal

The importance and contribution of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee in the history of West Bengal is
immeasurable . It is Dr. S.P . Mukherjee due to whom the state of West Bengal is in India else it would
have been too in present-day Bangladesh and hence destroyed .

1) S.P . Mukherjee was a famed academician , barrister , politician of his times .

2) He was a member of the Hindu Mahasabha and worked for the welfare of the people in rural India

3) Earlier he was against the partition of India but two gruesome incidents changed his mindset . The
Noakhali genocide 1946 and the Great Calcutta Killings 1946 . The interim government of Congress in
1946 rejected the partition of India and it followed with mass cruelty of Noakhali and Calcutta .

4. The pro-pakistanis initially demanded for the entire Bengal region in East Pakistan with Kolkata as the
capital but it was the sheer determination of Dr. S.P. Mukherjee which ensured West Bengal for the
Hindus . Bengali Hindu Homeland Movement - Wikipedia

5. After independence he was the Industry minister of Free India in the cabinet of Nehru but the
repeated violation of Nehru-Liaqat pact and the religious persecution of Hindus in Pakistan compelled
him to resign from the congress . He believed India should have taken Pakistan with iron hands for the
religious persecution of Hindus in Pakistan .

6. After that he became a regular pracharak in RSS and started working extensively in Lakhimpur in
Assam . In 1951 with the advice of M.S. Golwalkar the then Sarsanghachalak of RSS Mukherjee formed
the Bharatiya Jana Sangh which later became as BJP in 1980 . The motto behind the formation of BJS
was to establish a uniform civil code and cultural equality for all which was being compromised by the
shameless appeasement policy followed by the Congress government .

7. Since after Independence there was the need for a rapid progress of the nation , it is very much
necessary that we incline to our cultural identity . So Dr. S.P. Mukherjee proudly advocated for Hindu
Nationalism and hence many RSS members joined him to initiate the BJS .
8. That time no other Indians were allowed to visit Kashmir without Visa owing to article 370 . Dr. S.P.
Mukherjee said that “ek desh mein do vidhan , do pradhan , do nishan nehin chalegaa” . He entered
Kashmir illegally protesting this act after which he was jailed in Kashmir . There he died under
mysterious circumstances or congress conspiracy . But it was Mukherjee due to whom today every
Indian are allowed to visit Kashmir .

9. Unfortunately today we have forgotten the contribution of Dr. S.P. Mukherjee , especially in West
Bengal . In the race of upgrading their eliteness (aabhijaato) people have sworn their allegiance to anti-
national communism and have chosen to forget the sacrifice of S.P. Mukherjee due to whom the
countless generations of people got their land secured and acceded to India .

There are many ways to judge a view . But actually Hindu Nationalism is not about any imperialistic
fanaticism but it is about safeguarding our cultural identity . What is the need ? Well Cultural identity is
the part of our Nationalism . No Nation can make progress abandoning their root culture and adopting
some foreign ideology(communism) . And Hindu Nationalism is not against any religion , evident is the
fact that even Sikhs , Buddhists , Christians and Muslims consider the Sindhu Civilization as their root
culture irrespective of their religion
