I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
A. Identify the adverb of time.
B. Use adverb of time in sentences correctly.
C. Differentiate the adverb of time; points of time definite, definite frequency,
indefinite frequency, and relationships of time indefinite.

II. SUBJECT MATTER


Topic: Adverb of time
Reference: Learner’s materials and internet website
Materials: English time pages, visual aids, power point and video clip

III. PROCEDURE
A. Preliminary Activity
1. Prayer
2. Greeting of the class
3. Checking of attendance
4. Classroom management

B. Review about the previous topic


Class, before we proceed to a new topic let us have a short review about
the song “Auld Lang Syne” what Is all about? Yes, please.
Very good! It is about of remembering memories w/ your friends whom you haven’t
seen for a long time. How about the poem “I Think Continually of Those Who Were
Truly Great” Yes, anyone?
That’s Great! It is about of commemorating great people in history. Now, before
we go on I want you to watch the video.

C. Motivation
The teacher will show a video clip about the adverb of time.
Class, as you watch the video what have you observed? Have you noticed anything?
Okay, yes. What is it?

D. Lesson Proper/Discussion
The teacher will show the power point presentation to the class.
Now, since you are the good observant let me introduce to you the adverb of time.
An adverb modifies and tells us more about the verb. It tells us WHEN, WHERE, or
HOW the action takes place.
Adverb of time tell us about the time of action and answer the question—WHEN?

Examples:
Sarah must eat dinner early. if we add question: when must Sarah eat?
Early is the adverb of time and it modifies the verb “eat”
My cat sleeps all day. If we add question: when does the cat sleep?
All day is the adverb of time and it modifies the verb “sleeps” also give us
more information about the action.
Adverb of time will identify in four different ways:
Points of time (definite) Frequency (definite)
now hourly
then monthly
today daily
tomorrow weekly
Frequency (indefinite) Relationships of time ( indefinite)
always later
often lately
seldom next
regularly soon

E. Application
The teacher will divide the class into 5 groups. Based on the pictures and the adverb
of time words they have, they are going to act “picture talk” using the adverb of
time. They only have 5minutes to prepare. Who will be the best is the winner.

Presentation and Creativity- 20%
Appropriateness- 10%

F. Generalization
Class, did you understand the lesson? “you should always remember that adverb of
time answer the question—WHEN? And tells us when somebody did or something
happened and also tell us the duration of time.

IV. EVALUATION
The teacher will give the students a short quiz composes of 10 items).
Okay, I want you to get ¼ sheet of paper and answer the following questions.
Just write the answer only. I will give you 5 minutes to answer.

Directions: Identify the underlined world if it is definite or indefinite frequency, or


definite (points of time) or indefinite (relationships of time). Answer only.
1. The girl runs quickly.
2. Jake sometimes plays basketball.
3. There once was a man called superman.
4. I rarely play piano.

6. My parents go to the cinema every weekend.
7. It’s not fair because I never get a turn.
8. My plane leaves tomorrow.
9. Liam watches television occasionally.

V. ASSIGNMENT
The teacher will ask the students to study in advance about Adverb of Place.
