ABSTRACT
Major Irrigation – Gangadevipalli & Sirigepalli Lift Irrigation Scheme
(GSLI) - Providing Irrigation facilities to an extent of 14,200 Acres in
Muddunur and Kondapuram Mandals of Kadapa District and Drinking
water to 19 villages at an estimated cost of Rs.298.58 crores –
Administrative Approval – Accorded – Orders – Issued.

ORDER:

In the references read above, the Chief Engineer (P), Irrigation,


Kadapa has reported that detailed investigation was carried out for
providing Irrigation facilities to an extent of 14,200 acres in upland
areas of North and West of Pennar River by lifting water from
Gandikota Reservoir incorporating Micro-Irrigation System and
requested Government to accord administrative approval for an
amount of Rs.298.58 crores to take up the work. The following
provisions have been made in the estimate.

i) Lifting of 0.68 TMC of water in 60 flood days from


+205m level to +247m level i.e., from Gandikota
Reservoir near Korrapadu village to proposed
Gangadevipalli Tank near Gangadevipalli village in single
stage with 1.50m dia pressure mains for a length of 1.60
Km;

ii) Lifting of 0.59 TMC of water in 60 flood days from +205


to +247m level i.e., from Gandikota Reservoir near
Bukkapatnam village to proposed Sirigepalli Tank near
Sririgepalli village in single stage with 1.50m dia
pressure mains for a length of 8.70 Km;

2. The CE (P) has requested Govt. to issue orders of approval on


the following:-

i) Investigation, Design, Execution of the Components


required to lift 0.68 TMC of water from +205m to +247m
in 60 flood days from the foreshore of Gandikota Reservoir
to Gangadevipalli Tank and providing Micro Irrigation
System to an ayacut of 6,500 Acres including formation of
Gangadevipalli Tank with a storage capacity of 0.266 TMC
and excavation of connected approach channel and feeder
channel from Gangadevipalli Tank to Chinthakunta Tank in
Muddunur Mandal.

required to lift 0.59 TMC of water from +205m to +247 in
60 flood days from the foreshore of Gandikota Reservoir
near Bukkapatnam village to Sirigapalli Tank and providing
Micro Irrigation system fro an ayacut 7,700 Acres including
formation of siregepalli Tank with a storage capacity of
0.305 TMC and excavation of connected approach channels
etc. in Kondapuram Mandal.

3. It has also been reported by Chief Engineer, Kadapa that the


proposed ayacut in North and West of Pennar River lies in drought
prone area and can be irrigated only by means of lift as the only
source of water i.e. Pennar River is at much lower elevation. Further
the scheme will also ensure drinking water availability to 19 villages in
the area.

4. Government, after careful examination hereby accord


“administrative approval for Rs.298.58 Cores (Rupees two hundred
ninety eighty cores and fifty eight lakhs only) for providing irrigation
facilities to the extend of 14,200 acres in North & West of Pennar river
besides ensuring drinking water availability for 19 villages by taking up
the works as indicated in para (2) above. The details of expenditure
are annexed to this order.

5. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance (Works &


Projects) Department vide their U.O. No. 4831/F5/A2/2008, Dated
10.12.2008.
