Reconstruction of the
project
In 2004 the project is revised by congress government.
2005 the government estimated the project
development (restructure) for Rs. 10,271 Cr.(includes
power and drinking water component of Rs 2,868 cr)
2011 it is 16,000 Cr.
But central government sanctioned 300 Cr.
Centre giving funds for further development of the
project for 30% of the total project in five year budget.

Observation
Polavaram project construction began from 2004 & will be
completed by 2018.
The environmental impact assessment (EIA) of the project
says 276 villages will be affected; an estimated 236,834
people live in these villages.
The project will provide irrigation to 2.91 Lakh
Hectares(CCA) and hydropower with installed capacity of
960 MW .
As per the Provisions of Andhra Pradesh Reorganization
Act, 2014 Government of India is committed to provide
100% funds for the construction of Polavaram Project.
Conclusion
The surplus waters of Godavari river basin can be
transferred to Krishna river basin.
There will be permanent solution to drinking water
scarcity problems.
There will be no floods and sea water will
not sink the villages. Sterile lands become
fertile.
Even villages can get 24 hours power supply
with Polavaram project .
