Nestabilities Flower - Chrysanthemum

I used a cream base card with a Ripe Advacado ribbon, card and stamped flourishes in the same colour ink, all including the stamps available from Papertrey Ink.
I used the scalloped Circles Nestabilities to create the flower, I'm calling it a Chrysanthemum because that is the blossom I was aiming for.
The Label shapes are also Nestabilies.

Attention to detail...

A closer look at the Chrysanthemum, I also used a leaf punch on green paper then distress it with chalk inks to make them look a little more lifelike.

If you would like to know how to make this leave a comment, if I have enough interest I'll do a tutorial.

Such Sad News

Early hours of this morning my Niece Kimberley rushed her baby to hospital, Baby Layton John 15 months old now sleeps peacefully in heaven.

Our family is devastated that such a lively little soul has gone.

Build a Poppy Card - Poppy Appeal

I wanted to highlight a stamp set that is a good price yet still donating £1 to the Poppy Appeal for every set purchased, the Papermania Signature Build a Poppy stamp set is retailing at around £5.99 at many stamp shops.
The poppy was very easy to put together, I stamped with black ink onto read card stock then cut around the images 4 to each poppy then joined them together with a black brad, the brad is hidden as I dotted the center with black stickles. I used the Nestabilities circles to mount the poppy onto and a white base card was stamped at each corner with the sentiment. I finished the card with a black velvet ribbon and bow.

A close up photograph of the Poppy, I dotted the centre with Black diamond stickles and used a deep red promarker to give some depth to the flower.

Christmas Tree Orniment from Nestabilities

On playing making the Tree card with the Nestabilities scalloped circle see here for tutorial, I had another play on Sunday, this time leaving the circles whole apart from cutting away 2 of the scallops in a pie piece so that when I joined the piece back together it would form a shallow cone.
the tree trunk is a wooden meat skewer coloured with a gold marker and the pot once had Jam Preserve inside, I added a layer of glue to the outer side of the jar and rolled it in the glass glitter

What do you think?

My very wonderful talented friend Claire from Waltzing Mouse Stamps shared a bit of noises we make when getting old, Claire often adds at the bottom of her post "Hope it tickles" well it certainly tickled me into adding my own bit to it.

It goes something like this......

A workmate of Claire's hubby spotted that we make a noise when bending to pick something up when we get to a certain age. that noise according to Claire's spelling is"hhnnngh" whats worse is that Claire notices now that she makes the noise herself and now feels old.

My reaction to this was

"Ok yep I do this too and thanks for pointing this out to me lol!Now lets all have a reality check here because I'm damned if this nice Colin chap is going to get away with it,Claire and all your nice readers... are you listening?you know when you are getting old when...... you bend to pick something up and the hhnngh noise doesn't come out of the top end but it does come out of the bottom end (urghhhh) feel better now Claire???? (giggle)"

So moving on a little further my lovely buttonless man when younger noticed an elderly lady that was a passenger on the bus he used to drive making the same noise every time she got on and he named her Mrs Ooh Argh.

Now I'm turning this over to you to comment on, some of the comments on Claire's Blog are hilarious so I can't wait to hear what comes from my wonderful commenter's.

Hoppin Happy Slide Back Card

Hoppin Happy Digi stamp from Digital Pencil Too coloured with Promarkers, the thank you was stamped onto one of the Fancy Tags by Spellbinders.
An angled view of the slide back card easy to make - just a 14 x 14 finished card with the top layer scored at the half way mark and folded in a mountain fold then take a separate piece of card 14 x 14 and decorate this as the finished seen bit (in my case the bit with the Mo Manning image on it) then add double sided tap on the back bottom half of this piece and stick it to the bottom section of the card under the scored line, this then slides back to make the card stand up.

Closed view of the card.

Papers used for the card are K&Co - Madeline - 8.5x8.5 Double-Sided Paper Pad then stickles used on them to give a little bling.

Attention to detail...

A silk Autumn leaf, a blossom and a key charm from Quixotic Paperie that was silver until I coloured it with a sakura gold calligrapher pen.

Jack 13 Weeks old

I haven,t made a card today as a little someone needed a bit of attention, I think it is amazing how someone so small and unable to speak can generate so much love.
I just seem to melt.
The softness of his skin the baby smell that only a mother knows the smiles that ease away the daily stress then the calm of sleep.

Priorities

I hope my children look back on today
And see a mother who had time to play!
Children grow up while you’re not looking,
There’ll be years ahead for cleaning and cooking
So quiet now, cobwebs; dust go to sleep
I’m rocking my baby, and babies don’t keep!

Nestabilitie Christmas Tree Tutorial

I had fun with this, All the papers used are by Graphic 45, Nestabilities Circle scallop, green base card and ribbon Crushed Glass Glitter, Joanna Sheen has this in stock.
Also used a bit of green ink to distress the paper.

This is a picture took from the bottom so that I could show you the dimension of the tree.

Tutorial...

To make I used a double sided scrapbook paper now this is where you can get really creative, funky colours would look brilliant, if you don't have double sided paper then use a coloured one and use a gold or a silver marker and colour the reverse.

The Nestabilitie Scalloped Circle that I used was the second largest.

Cut the scalloped circle shape into pie like pieces you will only use 4 of them
Starting by cutting the shape in half you will need.
1 with 6 scallops 1 with 5, 1 with 4 and the last piece with 3 scallops.

Cut in between each scallop toward the point leaving about 1cm from the point uncut.

You can see on each scallop I have curled them upwards showing the patterned paper on the back, I curled mine with a bone folder but you could wrap them around a pencil or something similar.

Once all of the pieces are curled push your thumb into the back of each piece so that they are slightly arched

You can see in the next image that I added some crushed glass glitter to the curled edges, then I started to build up the layers using silicon glue, starting with the 6 curled scallops then overlapping with the 5 then the 4 and lastly the 3.
A Tree is Born.

All that's left is to add the card.

UK Soldiers in Afghanistan

I was asked by a Michelle Bayliss if I would mention that she is organising Cards for our Troups in Afghanistan If you can support this I'm sure our soldiers would appreciate the thought.

This is what Michelle has to say.

" I am collecting cards for the UK Soldiers in Afghanistan. If you have any cards lying around that you may not use or that may be suitable, and would like to donate them, please email me at [email protected] and I will send you my address Many thanks Shell "

Project of the Month Hop

This is the first of the Blog Hops for Mo's Dream Team

We will hold this every third Thursday of the month , we aim to give you a little inspiration and hopefully a few Oooo's and Awe's along the way, The Dream Team is made up with some of the most talented ladies so be sure to give them all a visit.

The theme for our projects this month is:
"Favorite Mo Stamp, along with Favorite Color Combo"
So this is one of my favourites.

Kai in the Snow

Take 3

As you can see I printed 3 images coloured 1 totally then the other 2 coloured the parts in the image that would be closest to me.

This gives you a better view of how I layered up the Kai image.

Attention to detail...

I used a peeloff (eek) which was clear with a silver outline and added it to the coloured card and cut around it for the larger snowflake, for the smaller one it was a Kurtake punch then coated it with glass glitter and added a pearl to the centre.

A couple of smaller snowflake to the bottom corner and a little snowman charm to the ribbon.

I hope you enjoyed a view of how I used the image.

For more fabulous inspiration that you are just not going to want to miss go and see Elaine Hughes project, all you have to do is click HERE and I'll take you over there.

In addition to the Blog Hop the challenge team have also been busy, so check out
