Man, 43, accused of having sex with a Shetland pony after breaking into farm appears in court

A man who was accused of breaking into a farm and having sex with a Shetland pony has appeared in court. 

Damion Ogeare, 43, is accused of having sex with the animal in a stable after trespassing onto the farm in Trowbridge, Wiltshire.

He appeared at Salisbury Crown Court, Wilts, for a plea and trial preparation hearing and spoke only to confirm his name.

But, the case was adjourned to allow him more time to seek advice on legal aid - so he did not formally accept or deny the offence.

The alleged offences took place at Maylands Farm on January 24 last year.

He is accused of breaking into a stables containing two Shetland ponies, and having sex with a female mare, called Cassieopia Wooley.

'This defendant stands charged in relation to two offences,' Christina Norgan told an earlier hearing at the Magistrate court.

Ogeare will next appear at Salisbury Crown Court on February 27.

He previously denied one count of sexual penetration with a living animal, and one of recklessly trespassing on premises with intent to commit a relevant sexual offence.

Ogeare, who arrived to court wearing a black coat and sherpa hat, but did not enter a formal plea today as the hearing was adjourned.
