The Newest Walmart Bakery Items Leave Fans Speechless

No warehouse club membership is required for these treats.

If you’ve ever read about a new bakery item from Costco or Sam’s Club and thought, “That looks so good, but I’m not buying a club membership just to purchase it,” you’re not alone. It seems every other day, people on Instagram and TikTok introduce us to a new sweet treat from one of the two warehouse stores. Sam’s Club’s Pumpkin Cheesecake and Costco’s Pumpkin Streusel Muffins sound perfect this time of year, but if you don’t have memberships to either warehouse club, the treats are out of reach.

Walmart, however, is accessible to everyone, and it has recently upped its bakery game. We’ve been paying closer attention to Walmart ever since this summer when the store released its French-Style Cheesecake Mousse (that practically flew out of the refrigerated case). And if you’re craving pumpkin for fall, Walmart’s Pumpkin Cake Roll is the “closest thing to homemade I’ve ever tasted from a store,” according to Allrecipes writer Bailey Fink.

Walmart’s New Mini Strawberry Butter Cakes

When Instagram’s Morgan Chomps introduced her followers to Walmart’s Marketside brand Strawberry Butter Cake, the dessert caught our attention.

She bought them because she could smell the strawberry from outside the packaging, and it reminded her of the aroma from a Good Humor Strawberry Shortcake Bar. The small cakes, which she thinks look more like tarts, are two for $5.78.

“I’m like speechless,” she said after a bite. “The outside crust is actually more like a chewy strawberry shortcake cookie,” she said. “And the inside is so hard to describe. It’s like jammy in a way. It’s not underbaked or raw, it’s jammy.”

In the end, she decided the cake was worth every penny because “the combination of the chewy cookie crust with the gooey dense cake on the inside just makes every bite so good texture-wise. I definitely need to run to Walmart and try the other kinds now.”

Morgan Chomps didn’t just grab our attention; she grabbed the attention of her followers, too.

“Walmart pastries be good as hell,” one commented. “I’m going to Walmart to buy this,” said another. “On a mission for these now, thanks for the headsup!” one more commenter said.

More Mini Dessert Flavors From Walmart Marketside

Chomps mentioned in the video that she wanted to try the other dessert flavors. Not long after she posted about the Strawberry Butter Cake, she went back to Walmart to grab the Marketside Cookies and Cream Pie, another tart-like treat. Her conclusion? “Run to Walmart!”

The crust is chocolate graham cracker-like and the filling is like “if a Hershey’s cookies and cream bar had the texture of Oreo cream,” according to Chomps.

“I bet they made a white chocolate ganache and added Oreo cookie pieces to it for the filling…based on your description. Sounds so good!” one of her followers said.

She also did a separate post on the new Marketside Chocolate Cream Pie, a small pie the same size as the strawberry cake and the cookies and cream pie.

“Oh no. Why did they have to go and make that flavor? That is my absolute most favorite pie. Please tell me it is terrible,” one follower pleaded.

Chomps did not say it’s terrible. Instead, she said, “This is the only chocolate cream pie I’ve ever enjoyed.”

Morgon Chomps is speechless over these new mini cakes and pies, her fans are running to Walmart for them, and we’re wondering what Walmart will come up with next in its bakery section that’s giving Costco and Sam’s Club a run for their money.
