Summer potluck season is in full swing and if there’s one thing every dessert table needs, it’s an apple pie. Is it a bit strange that the autumnal apple is a staple for all the summer patriotic celebrations and fall holidays? Maybe, but the humble fruit-filled dessert is about as American as it gets, so who are we to question it?

While apple pies aren’t that difficult to make—especially if you use our 5-star, six-ingredient recipe from Grandma Ople—we’ll never turn down a store-bought shortcut. Plus, hitting the grocery store bakery means you won’t have to heat up your house during a summer heatwave to turn out a delicious dessert.

Actually, after hearing about this award-winning apple pie from Sam’s Club, we might never make our own apple pie again.

Award-Winning Member's Mark Apple Lattice Pie at Sam's Club

Sam’s Club’s bakery section sells a 12-inch lattice crust-topped apple pie all year round that not only has rave reviews from customers, but has also won a blue ribbon at a national contest.

The Apple Lattice Pie is baked fresh daily and sold ready to eat—or ready to reheat, depending on how you want to serve it. It’s made with sweet apples, a hint of cinnamon, and a hand-topped, buttery, flaky lattice crust.

We, of course, trust the thousands of 5-star reviews left for the $10.98 pie, calling it “better than homemade” and “one of the best things Sam’s Club sells,” but throw in a blue ribbon and we’re really sold.

Sam’s Apple Lattice Pie won the 25th Annual American Pie Council National Pie Championships in 2019. Out of 700 pies submitted by amateur, professional, and commercial bakers, Sam’s Club’s bakery staple took home the blue ribbon for “Superior Gourmet Apple Pie.”

It’s sold every day at Sam’s Club, meaning after you fall in love with it at your 4th of July barbecue, it’ll be there for your Labor Day party, Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas shindigs, and any old day when you want a warm piece of pie served a la mode with vanilla ice cream.

“[I] was making my own pies before trying these. Now, I don't bother,” said reviewer Gayle F.

Gayle, we’re right behind you on that store-bought pie train!
