The Brand Behind Sam’s Club’s ‘Perfect’ Bakery Brownies

It might already be in your pantry.

As home cooks, there’s no better feeling than finding a store-bought item that you can pass off as homemade. Naturally, the first place we’ll look for those products is the premade section of the grocery store, which is why every Sam’s Club shopper has their favorite go-to deli and bakery item that they bring to parties, potlucks, and holidays.

The Sam’s Club bakery, specifically, is known for its array of delicious breads, pastries, and desserts that customers—and even employees—rave about. Of course, the everyday products—like the award-winning apple pie and cookie platter—are staples for a reason, but the seasonal and limited-time products are where Sam’s truly thrives.

In fact, Sam’s Club’s private-label bakery brownies are so beloved that when the club store isn’t carrying them, its customers are trying to hunt them down from the supplier themselves. And, it seems like the Reddit sleuths have found them.

The Brand Behind Member's Mark Brownies

Member’s Mark Gourmet Brownie Platter includes 24 decadent brownies iced with fudge and different toppings, usually depending on the time of year. The most common platter features cream cheese frosting, caramel icing, and chocolate icing, but sometimes Sam’s sells seasonal fall or even patriotic varieties.

Typically, Sam’s releases the brownies in the summer—around graduation and potluck season—and sells them through the rest of the year.

However, with customers calling them the “best brownie [they’ve] ever had that was store-bought,” only being available six months out of the year won’t cut it. So, if you’re looking to go straight to the brownie source, who would that be? None other than Pillsbury, according to Reddit.

“They are bulk order Pillsbury frozen brownies. They are shipped from the distributor, ready to thaw and decorate or enjoy as they are pre-iced,” wrote a Reddit user who presumably works at Sam’s Club.

Another Reddit user confirmed, writing, “[It] says Pillsbury on the box.”

While Pillsbury doesn’t sell its bulk brownies direct-to-consumer, Reddit users say that Sam’s Club will sell you a box of frozen brownies straight from the bakery counter. Sam’s sells a lot of its Member’s Mark baked goods, like cookies, muffins, and pies, frozen and ready-to-bake in bulk quantities, so it would make sense that the brownies are available, too.

And, you might even be able to buy the frozen brownies when Sam’s gourmet platter is unavailable. Another Reddit user confirmed that the Member’s Mark frozen brownies are the ones they use in the Brownie Sundae, which is available year-round at Sam’s Café.

So, if you’re in the market for dozens upon dozens of what customers call the “perfect” brownie, just simply ask the bakery if there are any bulk options available.

If that seems like too many brownies (is there such a thing?), you could always make some at home using one of Pillsbury’s brownie mixes. While there’s no way to confirm if Pillsbury sells its Chocolate Fudge, Milk Chocolate, or Dark Chocolate brownies to Sam’s Club, you can give each mix a go to see which one tastes the most similar to the Member’s Mark variety.

We volunteer as taste testers for that fudgy feat.
