Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 9 servings

  • 1 cup white sugar

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • ½ teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 cup peeled, cored, and diced Granny Smith apples

  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour an 8-inch square baking pan.

  2. Stir sugar, melted butter, and egg together in a large bowl. Mix in flour, cinnamon, and baking soda, then stir in apple and walnuts. Spread batter into the prepared pan.

  3. Bake in the preheated oven until a small knife inserted in the center comes out clean, about 40 minutes. Cool completely before cutting into nine bars.
