Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 24 servings

  • 1 (15 ounce) can pumpkin puree

  • 1 ⅔ cups white sugar

  • ½ cup vegetable oil

  • ½ cup applesauce

  • 4 large eggs

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger

  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.

  2. Mix pumpkin puree, sugar, oil, applesauce, and eggs together in a medium bowl until fluffy.

  3. Sift flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, baking soda, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves together in a large bowl. Add pumpkin mixture and stir until combined. Pour into the prepared baking pan.

  4. Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 25 to 30 minutes. Let cool, about 15 minutes before cutting into 24 bars.
