Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 2 servings

  • 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed

  • olive oil cooking spray

  • 1 teaspoon sea salt, or to taste

Directions

  1. Preheat an air fryer to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C) according to manufacturer's instructions.

  2. Spray kidney beans with olive oil cooking spray and toss with sea salt. Spread out in a single layer in the air fryer basket.

  3. Air-fry until all of the kidney beans have split open and have become crisp, 25 to 30 minutes. Air-fry for 5 more minutes if they look under-toasted; they all should be varying degrees of brown.

  4. Allow to cool and store in airtight container or sandwich bag.

Cook’s Note

Oil can be fully omitted for fat-free bean snacks. I have tested this myself, and it turns out just fine. You can use any of your favorite seasonings instead of just plain sea salt.

This recipe is very easy to double, triple, etc., just don't overcrowd your air fryer's basket. In my experience, one can of beans per tray is a safe ratio, but this can vary depending on the make and model of your air fryer.

This recipe should work in a conventional oven, but the cook time will vary depending on what temperature you use and the air circulation.
