Cornflake Burgers

A beef patty coated in cornflakes and fried to a crispy golden brown. I like to eat mine with a little steak sauce on the side but my daughter eats hers like a regular burger, sandwiched in between a bun with all the fixings.

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs

  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

  • 1 ½ cups crushed cornflakes, or more as needed

  • 1 pound ground beef

  • ¼ cup diced onion

  • salt and ground black pepper to taste

  • ¼ cup oil

Directions

  1. Beat eggs in 2 separate small bowls. Place flour and crushed cornflakes into 2 shallow bowls.

  2. Mix 1 beaten egg, ground beef, onion, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Form into 3 equal-sized patties.

  3. Dip each beef patty into flour, followed by beaten egg. Coat completely with crushed cornflakes.

  4. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook burgers for 5 minutes, flip, and continue cooking to your desired degree of doneness, about 4 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C).
