This easy, no-bake cheesecake recipe is a cherished family recipe created by my grandmother and lovingly passed down through three generations. Each cook added a special touch, but the flavor is similar.

Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 8 servings

  • 1 (8 ounce) container whipped topping (such as Cool Whip®)

  • 1 cup sour cream

  • 1 cup white sugar

  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, cut into 6 pieces

  • 1 (9 inch) graham cracker crust

Directions

  1. Mix whipped topping, sour cream, sugar, and vanilla together in a large bowl until blended.

  2. Place cream cheese pieces on a microwave-safe plate. Microwave on Medium at 30-second intervals until warm and soft, about 1 minute.

  3. Mix cream cheese into whipped topping with an electric bender on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Pour into graham cracker crust, smoothing the top.

  4. Refrigerate cheesecake until set, 4 to 5 hours.

Cook's Notes:

Don't be afraid to use a flavored whipped topping.

If topping with frozen fruit, defrost until just cold, drain, and add before serving. If topping with chocolate chips or pie filling (such as cherry pie filling), add before refrigerating or just before serving.

Mix by hand instead of an electric mixer for a denser texture.
