We’ll be the first to admit that fast food joints have some pretty delicious food—Wendy’s fries, Shake Shack burgers, Popeyes chicken nuggets? Come on, you can’t pass those up. And we aren’t the only ones who think that—and neither are you. In fact, some of the world’s biggest music stars, actors, chefs, and athletes love fast food as much as we do. Actually, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes might even love it more than we do because after moving to Missouri, he brought one of his favorite fast food restaurants with him just so he could enjoy the food. No, seriously, he invests in multiple franchises. Patrick Mahomes' Favorite Fast Food Restaurant Mahomes’ all-time favorite fast food restaurant is none other than the Texas-based Whataburger. Mahomes is a Texas native and has repeatedly talked about his love for the fast food restaurant—including on the Kelce brothers’ “New Heights” podcast. We know Travis and Jason Kelce have their opinions about the best fast food burger—spoiler alert, they love Burger King—but during their 2022 episode with Mahomes, they asked the Super Bowl-winning quarterback to choose the best burger between In-N-Out, Five Guys, and Whataburger. Mahomes answered Whataburger without even thinking about it. “I was saying [Whataburger] regardless,” Mahomes said. “The burgers are world-class, and they actually have a variety of things that you can get. [They also have] the best ketchup I’ve ever eaten—and as a ketchup connoisseur, that’s a very high praise.” It’s no big surprise that Mahomes loves Whataburger since it is the most popular fast food chain in Texas. But, it is interesting to learn how frequently Mahomes ate at the restaurant growing up. “Being a little kid that grew up in Texas [with] Whataburger being down the street and mom’s like ‘I’m at work what are you going to do for food?’ I had to go Whataburger every other day and I fell in love with it,” he said. He fell in love with it so much that when he moved to Kansas City, Missouri, and realized there weren’t any Whataburger locations around, he brought the restaurant to him. Mahomes invests in KMO Burger, A Whataburger Franchisee whose plan is to bring Whataburger to Kansas and Missouri, according to its site. “I love Kansas City and I love Whataburger,” said Mahomes in a press release. “I’m excited to help bring a gift from my first home to my second home.” KMO Burger plans to bring 30 Whataburger locations to Kansas and Missouri by 2028—with eight locations already open. Obviously, Mahomes visits the new locations a fair amount—and he brings his teammates. “I’ve tried to get Travis in on it a little bit,” Mahomes said on “New Heights.” “I’ve put Travis on the Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit, which is a breakfast sandwich that they have there, and it’s really slept on unless you’re from Texas.” Kelce says the Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit is his go-to for breakfast. But, the beauty of Whataburger is that many locations are open 24 hours a day, so it’s a great late-night spot. “If it’s any time past midnight and I’m hammered and I’m going [to] Whataburger, that barbecue chicken sandwich on Texas toast is so good,” Kelce said. The only bad thing about Whataburger is that there are only locations in 17 states. So, after Mahomes brings the fast food restaurant to all of Chiefs' Kingdom, maybe he can bring it to the rest of the country, too. Was this page helpful? Thanks for your feedback! Tell us why!
