We Tried Nick Jonas’ Go-to Fast Food Order and It's Our New Favorite Lunch

And, no, it's not from Waffle House.

If there are two things you need to know about me, it’s that I love the Jonas Brothers and I love Jersey Mike’s subs. So, put those two together, and I’m already in heaven. That’s why when Nick Jonas shared his Jersey Mike’s order on TikTok, claiming it was “the greatest sandwich [he] had ever tasted in [his] life,” I obviously had to try it.

Jonas, a New Jersey native, says he has some pretty high standards for sandwiches, so it’s no surprise that he goes to the other Jersey staple, Jersey Mike’s, for his subs. But, instead of ordering a classic, like Mike’s Famous Philly or the Club Sub (my personal favorite), Jonas goes off-menu for his creation.

“Let me walk you through what we have here,” he says in the video. “That is whole wheat bread, provolone cheese, ham, turkey, salami, lettuce, pickles, oil and vinegar, oregano, Mike’s Way.”

Now, I’m willing to let it slide that he specifically mentions lettuce, oil and vinegar, oregano, and then Mike’s Way because Jersey Mike’s lovers know that Mike’s Way always includes lettuce, tomato, onion, oil, vinegar, and spices. But it does sound like a great sandwich.

If you’re wondering why I’m OK with blindly trusting Jonas’ culinary innovations, I promise it’s not just because he sings songs about Waffle House and pizza delivery people. Nick and his brothers Joe and Kevin (collectively the Jonas Brothers) have their own popcorn brand, called Rob’s Backstage Popcorn. It started as homemade popcorn served backstage at Jonas Brothers’ events and has blossomed into a brand with three flavors—including two star-studded partner flavors with Kelly Clarkson and Priyanka Chopra-Jonas.

So, I was willing to bet that Jonas, who knows a thing or two about Jersey subs and has a good palette to develop popcorn, could come up with a tasty lunch order—and I was correct.

Nick Jonas' Jersey Mike's Order Taste Test

Seeing this video was a great learning moment for me. Not only did I find out that Jonas edits his videos like an early 2000s YouTube video, but I also learned that you don’t have to order a sub from the Jersey Mike’s menu. Sure, I always knew you could customize your own, but I never thought to order a completely new sub.

However, I then learned the hard way that you cannot order an off-menu sub online—nor could you order at my Jersey Mike’s location over the phone. So, if you want to try this sub, you’ll have to order it in the restaurant.

Now, I’ve never met a Jersey Mike’s sub I didn’t love, so of course, this one was delicious. I thought it was going to be a lot of meat, but it wasn’t too much at all. The flavor combo is great—Jersey Mike’s pickles plus its oil, vinegar, and spice blend are just top-tier, so you can’t go wrong.

I do wish it had another condiment on there besides just the oil and vinegar, though. I’m a big sauce fan, so I think some mayo would have added a nice flavor—and I'd probably add that next time.

I'm sure Nick had a good reason for choosing whole-wheat bread (he does have type 1 diabetes), but that would not be my first choice. Nothing against whole-wheat bread, but Jersey Mike’s has some of the best white bread out there, so not ordering it, if you can, is a missed opportunity.

All in all, it makes a great lunch sandwich when you’re in a hurry, and I can understand why Jonas ordered two so he could have another one for later. Looks like you really did create something, Nick!
