My Favorite Little Debbie Holiday Product Is Officially Back

The unseasonable weather in the Northeast lately certainly doesn’t make it feel like the holidays are so close. But they are, and when I walk into any store, it can’t be denied, even if I’m wearing sandals.

Despite the warmth, I’ve been heading straight to the grocery store aisle where the Little Debbie snack cakes are for the past few weeks, looking for the first boxes of the iconic Christmas Trees to appear. And now, they have! I have a few boxes hidden in the basement, waiting to be part of our family Christmas tree-trimming party feast.

My family has certain traditions for that feast, and none of them are fancy. For starters, we serve meatball sandwiches—something we have in common with Melissa McCarthy’s family. Her family enjoys them during the holidays while watching “Lord of the Rings.” We have them while watching “Elf” after the tree is trimmed. On the dessert tray are always Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes.
Another tradition in my family is to give each of my sons an ornament at the party. I know that’s not unique to our family, but anyone still doing it when their kids reach young adulthood will realize it’s tough to find ornaments that are meaningful to them without being childish. This year, our favorite snack company made it not so tough.

Little Debbie’s Holiday Merch Is Back for 2024

Little Debbie knows the goldmine it has with those Christmas Tree Cakes. People love them. They’re great as is, but the popular holiday treats also make the perfect ingredient for truffles or a dessert dip. So, it makes sense that when the brand releases its annual holiday merch, many of the items are related to the beloved tree-shaped treats.

This year’s lineup of snack cake-themed holiday merchandise has plenty of returning items. The Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cake Yard Inflatable—in vanilla or chocolate—for $100 is on Little Debbie’s storefront again this year. So are the Christmas Tree Cake earrings for $10.

Not all the goods are holiday-themed, but it’s all meant for gift-giving. New this year are beach towels with vibrant designs inspired by the Cosmic Brownies and Zebra Cakes ($35 each) and Christmas Tree Cake or Zebra Cake dog toys (both around $20). I’d love to let my dog Buddy (yes, named in part for Buddy the Elf) in on the Christmas Tree Cake fun, but he’d have that toy in tatters in five minutes.

There are various t-shirts, sweatshirts, and even a Christmas Tree Cake-themed tie to order, but what caught my eye immediately when perusing the holiday merch were the new ornaments. You can choose from an Oatmeal Creme Pie, Zebra Cake, or Christmas Tree Cake. And as soon as I spotted the Christmas Trees, I ordered them immediately. It hasn’t been this easy to check my sons’ ornaments off my gift-giving list in years.

I have visions of my kids throughout their lives—carefully taking the ornaments out of their boxes that I lovingly add to each year—telling those around them about the years of Christmas tree-trimming parties in our home. Maybe they’ll have “Elf” on the TV. Maybe they’ll choose a different movie to watch. But I’m pretty sure, as long as Little Debbie is still making them, there will be Christmas Tree Cakes on the dessert tray.
