By Annie Campbell Published on November 8, 2024 Close Photo: Pillsbury/Allrecipes Sure, cookies are a year-round staple, but if there’s one season where our cookie cravings just can’t be satisfied, it’s the holidays. Store-bought or homemade, there’s something about a piled-up cookie platter that never gets old. Bring on the buckeyes, thumbprints, peanut butter blossoms, and pizzelles—we’re here for it all. What’s even better is when the holiday tray includes flavors you can’t find any other time of year. So, when Pillsbury unveiled a new iteration of a holiday-inspired cookie dough, we knew it was bound to secure a spot on our cookie spread. Pillsbury’s New Candy Cane Sugar Cookie Dough Pillsbury’s latest limited-edition cookie dough combines two of the quintessential treats of the holiday season—sugar cookies and candy canes—into one perfectly prepared package. This sugar cookie dough is packed with tiny candy cane crystals, giving each cookie a sweet, minty crunch within the soft vanilla dough. Freezer-friendly, it stays fresh throughout the winter months, ready to bake whenever you need it. Instagram account @candyhunting spotted the dough at Hy-Vee, but speculates it’ll be available nationwide soon at a suggested retail price of $5.49. “Yesss—I’ll be eating that right out of the package,” said one fan. “That looks so good!” said another. Distinct from Pillsbury’s Peppermint Sugar Cookie Dough, the candy cane flavor was first introduced as a limited-edition dough in 2021. While the original version came in a log so that bakers could just slice and roll it into individual cookies, the new version comes pre-sliced. This means all you have to do is break off a chunk and transfer it to the oven, then in 16 to 20 minutes, you’ll have candy cane-studded cookies that look like they came straight from Santa’s kitchen. Since the ready-to-bake dough is safe to eat raw, some fans have other plans for what to do with it. “Oh I will be getting this and chopping it up and putting it in my Häagen ice cream,” someone suggested. So whether you’re gearing up for a holiday party or just settling in for a cozy night of binging Christmas movies, Pillsbury’s Candy Cane Sugar Cookie Dough is here to sweeten up your season. And, if you’re in the mood for more hands-on holiday baking, Pillsbury’s got other festive products to keep your cookie trays filled all season long. Was this page helpful? Thanks for your feedback!
