Over 1,200 Cases of Onions Recalled in 11 States Due to Potential Salmonella

Packages were sold at Trader Joe's and other retailers.

The FDA reports that Church Brothers, LLC, also known as Church Brothers Farms, has recalled 1,271 cases of green onions because the vegetables may be contaminated with salmonella, which can potentially cause a life-threatening foodborne illness.

The green onions were distributed in the U.S. to stores, including Trader Joe’s, in the following states: Alabama, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, New York, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Virginia. They were also distributed in Canada under the brand Imperial Fresh, with the same identifying information as the packaging distributed in the U.S. 

How to Identify the Recalled Green Onions

The affected products are packaged under three different brands:

  • Church Brothers—Description: Green Onions Iceless 4x2lb Reg Church Brothers Mexico. Lot Code: CB272378, located on the front of the bag. Container type: Clear bag.
  • Trader Joe’s—Description: Green Onion Iceless 24x6oz Reg Trader Joe’s Mexico. Lot code: CB272378 with pack date label 092524 on the back of the bag. Container type: Brand retail bag.
  • Imperial Fresh—Description: Green Onion Iceless 4x2lb Reg. Lot code: CB272378 located in front of the bag. Description: Clear bag.

What to Do If You’ve Purchased the Recalled Green Onions

Do not consume the green onions. Discard them or return them to the place of purchase.
