Allrecipes' editorial guidelines Published on March 14, 2024 Close Photo: best buy On March 14, 2024, Best Buy, in conjunction with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a recall of 187,400 Insignia brand air fryers and air fryer ovens in the U.S. and Canada. The recall comes following 24 consumer complaints reports of overheating and melting or glass shattering, including six reports of air fryers catching on fire. The air fryers and air fryer ovens were found to be prone to overheating, which could cause the handles to melt or break or the glass on the door to shatter, creating the potential for fires, burns, and lacerations. Which Air Fryers Are Recalled? The recalled air fryers and air fryer ovens are all manufactured under the brand name Insignia. The following model numbers are subject to recall: NS-AF34D2NS-AF5DSS2NS-AF5MSS2NS-AF8DBD2NS-AF10DBK2NS-AF10DSS2 Each air fryer or air fryer oven will have the brand name Insignia on the top or front of the unit. To check if your Insignia air fryer is subject to recall, locate the product rating label on the underside of the unit which contains the model number. The recalled air fryers and air fryer ovens have cooking chamber capacities ranging from about 3.4 to 10 quarts, and have both plastic or plastic and stainless-steel bodies in black or stainless-steel finishes. The recalled units were originally sold between November 2021 and November 2023 at Best Buy as well as third-party sellers and retailed between $32 and $180. What to Do if You Have a Recalled Air Fryer If you have a recalled Insignia brand air fryer or air fryer oven, you should stop using it immediately. Visit the recall website for instructions on how to submit photos of the recalled unit(s), the model number, and proof of purchase. Consumers can receive a refund in the form of a refund check or a Best Buy store credit. Do not return the recalled air fryers or air fryer ovens to Best Buy stores.
