4.8 Million BlendJet Units Have Been Recalled Due to Fire and Laceration Risk

BlendJet has issued a recall on its popular BlendJet 2 Portable Blenders for possible fire and laceration hazards. The company recalled over 4 million blenders that were sold in major retail stores throughout the United States and Canada.

BlendJet 2 Portable Blenders Recall Details

Roughly 4.8 million of these BlendJet 2 Portable Blenders were sold nationwide in stores that include Costco, Walmart, and Target and online at BlendJet.com from Oct. 2020 through Nov. 2023. The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall on Dec. 28, 2023, after the company received an estimated “329 reports of the blades breaking while in use” along with an additional “17 reports of overheating or fires resulting in property damage claims of approximately $150,000.” There have also been 49 reports of minor burns and one reported incident of a consumer being injured by a laceration.

The BlendJet 2 Portable Blenders with serial numbers that begin with four numbers between 5201 and 5542 are impacted by the recall. You can find the serial number on the bottom of the blender’s base. These recalled blenders were sold in many different colors and designs. Each weighs about 1.5 pounds and is roughly 9.5 inches high and 3 inches wide.

If you purchased a BlendJet 2 Portable Blender you should stop using it immediately. To determine if your blender has been recalled, enter its serial number online or call BlendJet at 844-334-0562.

Anyone who has a compromised blender should contact BlendJet directly to receive a replacement for free. To get your blender replaced free of charge, CPSC advises on its site to “remove and cut the rubber seal from the base of their recalled blender into three or more pieces and upload or email a photo showing the serial number on the bottom of the unit and its rubber seal in pieces to BlendJet at www.blendjet.com/safetyandrecall or [email protected]."
