Stephen, a shell-shockedVietnam veteran, returns from a mental hospital, which he entered voluntarily because he was suffering from nightmares about the war and had in consequence lost three jobs in a row. After having been treated and finally coming home again, he gets a new job as custodial engineer at a grammar school, but loses it again within less than one week because of a law forbidding people who spent time in a mental hospital to work within the vicinity of children. However, the Simmons family desperately needs money, so Stephen continues looking for work, and finds a job picking potatoes. There he makes friends with a man called Moe Henry, with whose help he succeeds in obtaining a job working in a mine - his best one yet.
In the meantime, the twins Lidia and Stu try to get away from the dreary reality of their lives. They find a tree in a forest close to their house and decide to build a tree house there. At first they and their friends argue over who has to construct it and who is allowed to use it; the three boys - Stu, Chet and Marsh - want it all to themselves, while the girls - Lidia, Elvadine and Amber - want them to work on it and share it afterwards. After several deals, they agree to build the tree house together. The girls get everything they need from the garbage heap belonging to the Lipnickis, a neighboring family with a reputation for bullying, who have a grudge against the Simmons and their friends. Unfortunately Billy, the youngest of the Lipnicki kids, discovers Lidia, Elvadine and Amber on his father's territory, so the girls have to pay him to keep quiet, but later after he falls under a candy coma his brothers force him to betray Lidia's secret.
"The War" is a song by the American rock band Angels & Airwaves. It was the fourth single from their debut studio album, We Don't Need to Whisper (2006), released on Geffen Records. It peaked at number nineteen on Billboard'sHot Modern Rock Tracks chart in 2007. Tom DeLonge has described this song as anti-war, with specific references to the Invasion of Normandy in World War II. "The War" was the last song the band would play, during their We Don't Need to Whisper concerts, with Tom making a speech during the bridge.
Videos
Although "The War" never received an official music video, a short film and a live video were released. The short film depicts a futuristic environment, a battle on a beach where enemy combatants shoot up through the sand from an underground facility of some kind. After the battle, the underground facility is shown. In this facility, there is a character who is strapped to a hospital type bed. He breaks free and is shown escaping from the facility, running from the soldiers who occupy the facility and then becoming trapped on the top of a cliff with no place to go. As the enemy approaches at the end of the video, the character falls backward off of the cliff. This character is played by Bradley Horne, which is notable because he also played the significant role of Captain Lee Briggs in the 2011 Angels and Airwaves Science Fiction film, Love.
The War was a four-issue comic bookmini-series, published by Marvel Comics. It was the final publication in Marvel's New Universe line, and resolved a number of unfinished plotlines, as well as radically changing the New Universe setting.

Adelaide or l'Adelaide is an opera by Antonio Sartorio to an Italian libretto by Pietro Dolfin. It was premiered in Venice at the Teatro San Salvatore in 1672. An exact date is not known, although the libretto is dedicated February 19, 1672.
The genre of the opera is dramma per musica. The libretto follows the same historical events as Handel's later Lotario.
"Adelaide", Op. 46, (German pronunciation:[aːdəlaːˈiːdə]) is a song for solo voice and piano composed in about 1795 by Ludwig van Beethoven. The text is a poem in German by Friedrich von Matthisson (1761–1831).
Composition and publication
During the period he created "Adelaide", Beethoven was in his mid twenties; he had come to Vienna in 1792 to pursue a career and was in the early stages of making a name for himself as pianist and composer. He had only recently completed his studies with Joseph Haydn. A. Peter Brown suggests that in writing "Adelaide," Beethoven was strongly influenced by Haydn's song "O Tuneful Voice" (Hob.XXVIa:42, c.1795), written by the elder composer shortly before. Like "Adelaide", "O Tuneful Voice" sets a love poem, is in moderate tempo with a steady triplet accompaniment, and wanders from key to key in its middle section.
In composing "Adelaide" Beethoven made many sketches.Barry Cooper assigns the work of composition to "an unusually long time during 1794, 1795, and perhaps 1796." The song was published by Artaria in Vienna; the first edition bears no date, but an advertisement for it appeared 8 February 1797 in the Wiener Zeitung.

In contrast, Mogli, the human boy in the movie, thinks of himself as just one of many types of forest animal. The movie represents a conflict in humanity's search for self-identity. Approximately 200 species including humans belong to the Primate mammalian order. Like all animals, they are faced with the problems of how to survive, breed and rear offspring. The mating behavior of the apes is particularly complex and fascinating. Chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes) societies are typically characterized as physically aggressive, male-bonded and male-dominated. Their close relatives, the bonobos (Pan paniscus), differ in fascinating and significant ways. For instance, female bonobos bond with one another, form coalitions, and dominate males.
Some researchers are reluctant to consider, let alone acknowledge, female dominance in bonobos. Both species are equally "man's" closest relative. How do these findings change our views of our evolution and ourselves?
This talk explores and compares the sexual and social behavior our closest living relatives: chimpanzees and bonobos. The implications of understanding our origins and shared behaviors will be explored from a feminist viewpoint.
Fully illustrated and bashfully hosted by Crikey's resident cartoonist and fervent animal lover First Dog on the Moon.
Tickets available online at www.adelaidefestivalofideas.com.au, by calling the AFOI Box Office on 7070 0999 or by visiting them at 6 Cinema Place, Adelaide.

And so our sun may set, we've been in winter for so long Don't give up on me yet, I will give you what you deserve Though our arguments are many, and your eyes are always sore I promise you we'll get there, this war is almost won This war is almost won And lose if you have to Oh lose if you have to Cause I've been putting you through this hell for so long As long this stands your choice my dear, don't lose or we have won Don't let your heart grow cold, when you go to sleep upset Grow with me till we're old, we will find a way to heal The bruises that will appear, from choices long ago Hold on to our love my dear, don't think it's dead and done When this war is almost won And lose if you have to Oh lose if you have to Cause I've been putting you this hell for so long As long this stands your choice my dear, don't lose or we have won I'm running round in circles drinking whiskey and your wine To drown the sound of endless questions in your mind Forget the way I treated you and trust that I will love you better Give me all your patience, give me time x 3
