The club was founded in 1957 as Hollandia-Inala Soccer Club by Dutch immigrants. From the start they were based at grounds in the Brisbane suburb of Darra and then moved to Pine Road Richlands, where they still play. In the early 1970s, all clubs were required to abandon 'ethnic' names and they then adopted the name Brisbane Lions.
In 1977 the Lions were invited to play in the National Soccer League and played in the league as Brisbane Lions until the end of the 1988 season. Former Manchester United and Northern Ireland legend George Best made four appearances for the team during the 1983/84 season. From 1989 the Brisbane Lions played in the Brisbane Premier League. After coming to an agreement with the newly formed Brisbane Lions AFL club, they changed their name to the current Queensland Lions.

Adelaide or l'Adelaide is an opera by Antonio Sartorio to an Italian libretto by Pietro Dolfin. It was premiered in Venice at the Teatro San Salvatore in 1672. An exact date is not known, although the libretto is dedicated February 19, 1672.
The genre of the opera is dramma per musica. The libretto follows the same historical events as Handel's later Lotario.
"Adelaide", Op. 46, (German pronunciation:[aːdəlaːˈiːdə]) is a song for solo voice and piano composed in about 1795 by Ludwig van Beethoven. The text is a poem in German by Friedrich von Matthisson (1761–1831).
Composition and publication
During the period he created "Adelaide", Beethoven was in his mid twenties; he had come to Vienna in 1792 to pursue a career and was in the early stages of making a name for himself as pianist and composer. He had only recently completed his studies with Joseph Haydn. A. Peter Brown suggests that in writing "Adelaide," Beethoven was strongly influenced by Haydn's song "O Tuneful Voice" (Hob.XXVIa:42, c.1795), written by the elder composer shortly before. Like "Adelaide", "O Tuneful Voice" sets a love poem, is in moderate tempo with a steady triplet accompaniment, and wanders from key to key in its middle section.
In composing "Adelaide" Beethoven made many sketches.Barry Cooper assigns the work of composition to "an unusually long time during 1794, 1795, and perhaps 1796." The song was published by Artaria in Vienna; the first edition bears no date, but an advertisement for it appeared 8 February 1797 in the Wiener Zeitung.

STORYLINE
Deadly floodwaters that have cut a swath across northeastern Australia flowed onto the streets of the nation's third-largest city on Wednesday, forcing people to flee suburbs and skyscrapers as rescuers elsewhere searched for 67 people still missing.
Almost 20-thousand homes in Brisbane were expected to be swamped in the city of about 2 (m) million by the time the Brisbane River reaches its expected peak on Thursday, Mayor Campbell Newman said.
The figures were constantly being revised as the threat became clearer, and it was getting consistently worse.
At least 22 people have died in Australia's northeastern state of Queensland since drenching rains that began in November sent swollen rivers
spilling over their banks, inundating an area larger than France and Germany combined.
The crisis escalated when a violent storm sent a 26-foot (eight meter), fast-moving torrent, described as an "inland instant tsunami", crashing
through the city of Toowoomba and smaller towns to the west of Brisbane on Monday.
Twelve people were killed in that flash flood, and 67 remain missing.
Emergency sirens wailed throughout Brisbane on Wednesday afternoon.
Boats torn from their moorings floated down the rising river along with massive amounts of debris.
A popular waterside restaurant's pontoon was swept away by the current and floated downstream.
Some streets and riverside parks were covered with water, though no major flooding was reported early Wednesday.
Two evacuation centres have been established in the city and Newman said up to 6,500 were expected to use them in coming days.
Officials have urged anyone in a growing list of low-lying suburbs to prepare their homes, then get out to stay with friends and family and keep off the streets.
The Brisbane River broke its banks on Tuesday and was continuing its rise on Wednesday, partly controlled by a huge dam upstream that has had its floodgates opened because it is brimming after weeks of rain across the state.
Water levels were expected to stay at peak levels until at least on Saturday, but many people won't be able to access their homes for several days beyond that, Queensland state Premier said.
Some residents waited in line for up to four hours on Tuesday to get sandbags being handed out at emergency services depots.

Lyrics:
I used to spend my nights out in a barroom
Liquor was the only love it had ever known
But see... you rescued me from reachin’ to the bottom
And brought me back from being too far gone
You’re as smooth as Tennessee whiskey
You’re as sweet as strawberry wine
You’re as warm as a glass of brandy
Honey, I stay stoned on your love all the time
See i've used to look for love in all the same old places
I Found the bottom of the bottle was always dry
But see.. you poured down your heart, seee i didn’t waste it
‘Cause there’s nothing like your love to get me high
You’re as smooth as Tennessee whiskey
You’re as sweet as strawberry wine
You’re as warm as a glass of brandy
But Honey, I stay stoned on your love all the time
Lay it down gently , lay it down gently now ...
Cause You’re as smooth as Tennessee whiskey
You’re as sweet as strawberry wine
