Thousands of people protested Saturday in Austria's capital Vienna against coronavirus restrictions and compulsory vaccination.
Noisy crowds, cheering, whistling, and banging drums, streamed into Heroes' Square in central Vienna.
Many protesters waved flags and carried signs with slogans such as "no to vaccine mandate" and "no is no."
Austria's conservative-led government gave details of its plan to make coronavirus vaccines compulsory Thursday, saying it will apply to people aged 14 and over and holdouts face fines of up to 3,600 euros every three months.

Thousands of people marched through the streets of Vienna on Saturday to protest restrictions on aimed at stopping the spread of the novel coronavirus, just as Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz’s government is holding talks to extend the measures.
Demonstrators, many of whom were not wearing masks, held signs that read “Kurz Must Go” and “Make Influenza Great Again.”
Austria is in its third lockdown, with only essential shops open. The country has reported nearly 390,000 coronavirus cases, and almost 7,000 deaths linked to the virus since the beginning of the pandemic.
