1946 Matty Malneck & Robert Maxwell - Shangri-La (Side 2-the familiar melody)
Co-written with Malneck, harpist Maxwell’s familiar tune “Shangri-La” (Four Coins 1957, Robert Maxwell 1964, Vic Dana 1964, Lettermen 1969) had originated during WW2 as a more complex instrumental piece titled “Fantasy For Harp.“ It was first recorded by him in 1943 or 1944 while a member of the U.S. 11th Naval District Coast Guard Band, which was conducted at the time by Lt. Rudy Vallee (listen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_wFuiqkRwE ). Retitled “Shangri-La,” this more widely-available Columbia pressing was recorded a couple of years later.
Note, however, that the melodic line that we know today as “Shangri-La” does not appear until halfway through this 6-minute piece, specifically at the start of Side 2. As I expect that a greater number of people will be more interested in ...

Someday Sweetheart - Frank Signorelli, piano (1955)
Frank Signorelli playing "Someday Sweetheart" with George Wettling on drums, from the LP "Keys Ans Skin". Recorded in 1955.
Frank Signorelli (1901 - 1975) who hardly ever recorded on piano solo, was an american jazz pianist of the 1920s who played with Paul Whiteman orchestra but also Eddie Lang, Bix Beiderbecke and Matty Malneck. As a songwriter, he composed some nice standards such as "I'll Never Be the Same" , "Gypsy"or "A Blues Serenade".

Frank Signorelli: Piano Moods (Complete LP)
This is Frank Signorelli's complete solo album "Piano Moods" released in 1957 on Davis Records, catalogue number JD-103.
This album features different recordings from the ones on the two 78RPM records I have previously posted here. I feel the 78s are more lively, emotional recordings than the versions found here. Your taste may vary.
Enjoy this rare and forgotten album of Frank's music.

Frank Signorelli - Waltzing With A Dream
Jazz pianist great Frank Signorelli performs his composition "Waltzing With A Dream" Davis DA-34-4. My apologies for the sound quality being so rough; I played these records an awful lot when I was growing up.
Apparently, Davis DA-34 was an album consisting of at least 4 records. I have only two of them; sides 3+4, and 7+8. I am looking for the two missing records of this album (sides 1+2 and 5+6... and any other sides, if they exist).
It's such a shame it's so difficult finding Frank's solo works. He was really fantastic.

Tracklist:
01. Goin' Nowhere Fast
02. Romantic Springtime
03. Just Plain Lazy
04. Fireside Fantasy
05. Blue Susan
06. Wild Life
07. Bonnie's Boogie
08. Moonrise on the Caribbean
09. Waltzing With a Dream
10. A Sunday Morning Promenade
11. A Serenade To You
12. Eighty-Eight Keys to Brooklyn
