"No matter how desperate I get for cash... I'll never fake my content, dumbass." |
— Rumi Yeo in Episode 22 |
Rumi Yeo (여루미, Yeo Rumi) is a supporting character in How to Fight/Viral Hit.
Appearance[]
Rumi is beautiful, as Hobin says that Rumi has success on NewTube because of her appearance. She has curly orange hair with see through bangs, her eyes are brown with a downturned shape and long eyelashes, and she has thick eyebrows. She's usually wearing light makeup which consists of red lipstick, slight blush, and orange-pink eyeshadow.
Much like Bomi, she has exaggerated body proportions, having a big chest, tiny waist and wide hips.[2]
Personality[]
Rumi has a very extroverted and bubbly personality, often being the first to approach others. She generally seems to have an optimistic and persistent attitude that others can find annoying at times.
Rumi is an opportunistic person, at the beginning of the webtoon she often tried to collaborate with anyone who was popular at the moment so she could earn more views and money. Despite being uninterested in him at first, she even tried to persuade Hobin once he had gained a following, but he avoided her until he was in serious need of money.
In Episode 27, it's shown that Rumi lives in similar conditions to Hobin and actually lies to her viewers about her wealth so they don't look down on her.
People often view her only by her materialistic pretty girl persona, but Rumi is shown to be smarter than that. She was quick to recognize that Han Gyeoul is really good at manipulating people. She reads people well and isn't as naive as portrayed to seem. Although she doesn't often show it, she is very kind-hearted beneath her mask of arrogance and the superficial personality she uses. She felt bad after calling Gyeoul out and wanted to apologize to her. She's also not the type of person to hold grudges and was still nice to Gyeoul and Wangguk despite what they did to her.
History[]
Rumi's parents weren't around when she was young, so she had to move with her younger siblings to live in the house of a distant relative. They treated her, but they weren't in a financial situation to raise her and her younger siblings, so Rumi decided to leave home early to live on her own.
Ever since she was 14, she worked morning shifts making gimbap rolls, and after school she passed flyers for private academies, making ends meet. Since she couldn't go to school when she lacked basic necessities at home, she increased her workload.
She soon gained interest in cosmetics and wanted to become a beauty NewTuber. She didn't have the money to buy the newest trending makeup products that came out every month, so she had to borrow money from her close friends and classmates. Thanks to that, she was able to buy makeup and make videos for review, and after every video, she would return the money. [3]
