Hi. This is Thesecret1070. I am an admin of this site. Edit as much as you wish, but one little thing... If you are going to edit a lot, then make yourself a user and login. Other than that, enjoy Villains Wiki!!!
Let's imagine. If you glimpsed the future and were frightened by what you saw, what would you do with that information? You would go to...who? Politicians? Captains of industry? And how would you convince them? Data? Facts? Good luck. The only facts they won't challenge are the ones that keep the wheels greased and the dollars rolling in. Now, what if...what if there was a way of skipping the middleman, putting the critical news directly into everyone's heads? The probability of widespread annihilation kept going up. The only way to stop it was to show it, to scare people straight. What reasonable human being wouldn't be galvanized by the potential destruction of everything they've ever known or loved? To save civilization, I would show its collapse. But how do you think this vision was received? How do you think people responded to the prospect of imminent doom? They gobbled it up, like a chocolate éclair. They didn't fear their demise, they repackaged it. It can be enjoyed as video games, as TV shows, books, movies. The entire world wholeheartedly embraced the apocalypse, and sprinted towards it with gleeful abandon. Meanwhile, your Earth was crumbling all around you. You've got simultaneous epidemics of obesity and starvation! Explain that one! Bees and butterflies start to disappear, the glaciers melt, algae blooms all around you, the coal mine canaries are dropping dead, and you WON'T TAKE THE HINT! In every moment, there is the possibility of a better future, but you people won't believe it. And because you won't believe it, you won't do what is necessary to make it a reality. So you dwell on this terrible future and you resign yourselves to it, for one reason: because that future doesn't ask anything of you today. So, yes, you saw the iceberg and warned the Titanic, but you all just steered for it anyway, full steam ahead. Why? Because you want to sink. You gave up. That's not the Monitor's fault. That's yours. Put them through.

~ Nix, revealing his true nature to Frank, Casey and Athena.
David Nix (also known as Mayor Nix) is the main antagonist in the 2015 Disney science-fiction film Tomorrowland (or Tomorrowland: A World Beyond). He is the malicious founder and leader/Governor of Tomorrowland and Frank Walker's arch-nemesis.
David Nix is an inventor and a mayor. It is said he values technological achievement over scientific creativity.
Official Description[]
"Frank's idea was to create things that are fun, that make people's lives better because they bring pleasure and joy, and express hope. Nix is only interested in the more utilitarian platform of research; life for him is an endless scientific quest because he believes that man was put on this Earth to accumulate and develop knowledge."
Tomorrowland[]
Past[]
Frank Walker first encounters David Nix at the 1964 World's Fair. When an 11-year-old Frank enters "Tomorrowland", Nix is the one who sees his jet pack but is unimpressed with it, even warning Anthea to stay away from him. Frank later uses the jet pack to save himself after he explores the area. Nix, a man who values technical accomplishment over creative thinking, banishes Frank and all the other creative thinkers from Tomorrowland sometime later, allowing him to focus purely on aesthetics and technical advancement for its own sake and eventually sees him becoming its Governor while Frank becomes a recluse, having forged an agreement with Nix that sees him living far away from Tomorrowland and being allowed to live on the condition that he has to turn over anyone who threatens the secrecy of Tomorrowland's existence or risk being executed.
Present[]
Years later, Nix has been the mayor/Governor of Tomorrowland for decades and has become corrupt and deluded. After discovering that the world would end, he used the Monitor to broadcast the warning to humanity. When they did nothing to stop it, he continued broadcasting, causing the world's end to hasten and become a self-fulfilling prophecy. After Frank returns with Athena and Casey Newton using the Spectacle, a secret entrance created by Plus Ultra, Nix having originally sent his guards to kill both Frank and Casey after the incidents in the United States and Paris presumably drew public attention, they meet up with Nix and his guards, the group heading to his Monitor where Nix reveals that the world is coming to an end by a large apocalypse. Casey questions why Nix doesn't just warn the Earth, to which he replies that what will happen will happen only on Earth, while Tomorrowland will survive the destruction.
Casey questions why couldn't humanity of Earth come to Tomorrowland, but Nix refuses to let them, saying that humanity will mostly likely destroy Tomorrowland like they did to Earth. Casey refuses to believe Earth will end, and the future slightly changes as a result, a fact that Frank glimpses and tries to tell Nix about it, but Nix refuses to listen and orders him and Casey to be arrested instead. Later, Frank, Casey and Athena discover that Nix's monitor has a side effect: when it utilizes tachyons to obtain information about the future, it introduces a backfeed into their flow, thus making the future it shows all the more likely, creating a self-fulfilling prophecy; therefore, destroying the device can avert the apocalypse. The trio then go to see Nix again, only to see Nix prepare to deport them to an uninhabited island. The trio try to tell Nix what they have found out, but Nix refuses to listen, claiming that it won't make any difference.
Nix's confession and death[]
In a two minute monologue to the trio, Nix then reveals that he created the Monitor to broadcast the warning of the world's end to humanity, but instead of doing anything about it, humanity accepted what they saw, gave in, and repackaged what they saw into media, seeming to care only for the here-and-now, never willing to consider what their actions could mean for the future. As Nix speaks his monologue, expressing rage, despair and even mocking humanity, it becomes apparent to the trio that Nix himself has completely given up altogether and actually intends to allow the apocalypse to destroy Earth, and thus allow Nix to build a new world, one to his own liking.
After Nix reveals the truth, he tries to send Frank, Casey and Athena into the portal that will take them to the uninhabited island, presumably leaving them stranded there where they'll eventually die but the trio resist. As Athena deals with the robots and Casey tries to set off the bomb Frank gave Athena earlier, Frank and Nix battle each other, trading punches but despite Casey's efforts, the bomb ultimately goes off outside the portal, leaving the two men temporarily stranded on a beach although they later return through the portal once more. The bomb then goes off, destroying the area while leaving Nix trapped underneath some rubble, crushing his legs in the process which has him screaming out in pain. As Frank and Casey recover, Athena gets a glimpse of the future, seeing a vision where Nix successfully kills Frank by shooting him with a plasma gun. Just before Nix can kill Frank with a shot from his plasma gun, Athena intervenes and takes the blast instead, saving Frank but at the cost of being mortally wounded in the process which has Nix shocked.
As they head into the sky, Frank now wearing a jet pack and carrying Athena in his arms heads to where the Monitor is with the two recoiling and saying their goodbyes before Athena's body shuts down. Frank then drops her remains into the vicinity of the Monitor where her self-destruct program goes off at the same time, the resulting explosion destroying the Monitor and spreading to the other machines in the area, creating a huge chain reaction that causes it to shatter before it begins to collapse.
Nix who's still pinned underneath the rubble from earlier can only mutter, "Oh, bollocks" in disbelief before it falls down on him, crushing him, resulting in his death and finally ending his decades-reign over Tomorrowland for good.
A year later, Frank and Casey have begun running Tomorrowland together and even revealed its existence to those previously unaware of it including Casey's father, Eddie and her younger brother, Nate, the two also having joined Tomorrowland as well.
After telling their story to the crowd gathered, the two then begin dispatching people through the portal, the objective to help find new potential recruits for Tomorrowland, the people in question later seen arriving outside Tomorrowland via the T pins that they discover.
Physical Appearance[]
Nix was a man in his fifties (although he is implied to be much older thanks to the effects of a shake he regularly consumed) with brown hair and blue eyes.
Personality[]
Initially having little to no patience for dreamers, Nix banished young Frank Walker and other creative thinkers from Tomorrowland, allowing Nix to eventually gain full control of the Tomorrowland realm and rule over it, unopposed for many decades with the move causing Frank to become a recluse.
Years later, while as the head of Tomorrowland, a role he had held for decades, Nix learnt of the world's impending destruction and attempted to get Tomorrowland's population as well as the outside world to listen to him in hopes of avoiding the disaster but upon discovering they had ignored it, choosing to repackage it as various things they could enjoy such as books and video games, ultimately gave up on his efforts, becoming a cold, ruthless misanthrope.
No longer caring about humanity, Nix decided to let the disaster occur without making the effort to stop it or change things, believing that once the old world was ultimately destroyed, he could rebuild a new one to his liking.
Nix was also fiercely protective of Tomorrowland and keeping its existence a closely guarded secret to such an extent that he programmed the robot guards under his command to kill anyone in the outside world who knew of Tomorrowland, possibly due to the fact he wanted his plan to succeed, even at the cost of the Earth itself while further tightening his grip of control over Tomorrowland and its inhabitants.
During his two minute speech to Frank, Casey and Athena, Nix temporarily displayed a range of emotions including anger and despair at humanity's failure while mocking them for not acting on it before voicing his belief in a cold tone that it wasn't the Monitor's fault that humanity gave up, it was theirs.
Nix later expressed genuine shock when he learnt that he had shot Athena instead of Frank.
Still pinned under the rubble, having been left there while battling Frank, Nix could only look up and utter, "Oh, bollocks", revealing he was in disbelief at not only his impending death but also in the fact that his reign over Tomorrowland had ended and that his plans had failed.

Trivia[]
He is one of the few Disney villains (alongside Maleficent, Maestro Forte, Judge Claude Frollo and Ramsley) to say 'hell'. However, unlike them, Nix used the word slangly when Frank, Casey and Athena arrived at the now deserted Tomorrowland, demanding to know what was Frank doing there since he was barred from entering ever again. Ironically, both Casey and Frank also said 'hell'; Frank, only for cursing, and Casey (slangly as well like Nix) frantically asking "Who the hell is Governor Nix?!" when Nix's name was brought up by one of the Animatronics attacking Frank and Casey.
